I think it fair to say that most current customers of GoldenEar Technology understand and realize the
outstanding value GET brings to the table. Value in this context considers price, quality, and alternatives.
GET markets the powered speakers as being comparable in value to speakers costing 5 to 10 times as much. In fact, Al indicates “It’s often said that GoldenEar speakers sound as good as, if not better than, models costing 10 times as much.”
Without him even mentioning the particular model he is comparing the Reference to, the take away for me as the reader is that he is finding the 85K speakers preferable and “better”. He is merely “surprised at how well the Reference compared” and felt the characteristics of the Reference “were in evidence” in comparison. To me as the reader, he simply is not conveying that **he** believe the Reference sounds as good as, if not better than, models costing 10 times as much.
And what exactly does “überexpensive” mean? This is somewhat flippant in my opinion.
