Hi, I was going to purchase a pair of the Triton reference speakers on sale. They used to say 1800 watt force field woofer amp.
But now the site says 750 watt woofer amp is this a typo of did they change it ? also if anyone has the smaller amp does it effect the sound and performance.

Thanks...

Hi DP Photo, Hopefully, this will be good news. GoldenEar has not downgraded (or changed) the Triton Reference loudspeakers in any way. The only thing that’s changed is how we’re measuring and reporting some of the their specifications. Specially, the output of their built-in amplifiers.

We now provide the RMS and peak output ratings for their built-in amplifiers, whereas, in the past, we only rated their dynamic output. Ultimately, we thought that providing the RMS and peak output would be more meaningful. Specifically, the amplifier built-into the Triton Reference would have the following output ratings:

RMS (or continuous) output – 750 watts
Peak output – 1500 watts
Dynamic output – 1800 watts. (This rating tries to describe the output capabilities under normal usage - when playing music or movies.)
Happy Listening!!!
