Agreed 3 ft from side walls is good & I have enough absorption behind the T1's to support 15 inches of clearance. Not much else I can do there anyway. I made another adjustment to the T1 gain dial so they are set at 10:00 & sound great with subs turned off at the preamp with mains set to large. My MLP is 13 ft from centre channel with T1's 10 ft apart. Not exactly equilateral triangle but I read in the owners manual to keep them at least within 75% of the distance to listening position. So I am ok there. Had a listen earlier today & this is the best they have sounded with 2 channel audio. I will not use subs for 2 channel music in the future & restrict sub usage for movies only.

I reran Audyssey XT32 setup to capture the increased distance between the T1's & will watch a movie later to see how multi channel sounds with the new setup.

Thanks Dwight, good one!!!
Just trying to help here, not critical at all, OK?
Can you either move the speakers out from the wall (normally the WAF will not allow this) of sit closer, like 10 ft? Often the WAF makes any of these changes difficult. But I find that MOST everyone sits too far from the speakers and TV. My experience is that IF you can sit closer, you will get a really great soundstage, stereo imaging and more immersive movie experience too.
Hope this is helpful, probably not.
Happy listening, sounds like you are really getting there.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey Wayne

I completely agree with your recommendations however I am somewhat limited in what I can do as follows:

T1's sit on a elevated stage for HT & cannot extend the T1's out into the room any further as there is no more room. I have tried to compensate with 2 inch linacoustic covering the entire stage area, front corner floor to ceiling bass traps & 2 x 4 2inch rigid fibreglass panels siting behind each T1.

GIven the 54 inch height of the T1's sitting on elevated front stage & given their proximity to ceiling I added (6) 2 x 4 4 inch acoustical panels to the ceiling with 3 inch gap between panels & ceiling to absorb lower frequencies. The panels capture 1st reflections off the ceiling & span the width of the T1's.

I have (4) 4 inches thick 2 x 4 panels on each side wall at first reflection points & (4) 2 x 4 panels 6 inches thick on rear wall for deep bass absorption.

My Home theater seats are at the perfect viewing spot for my 140 inch cinemascope screen cannot sit closer.

The seats are at 39% of room length that is ideal acoustically for my room. Would not want to move closer as sound wave cancellation occurs with mlp at mid room.

I could bring in an additional chair when listening to 2 channel audio & sit 3 feet closer to form an equilateral triangle however the T'1s are on elevated front stage so the tweeters would fire about 6 inches above my head. They are properly aligned at 13 ft as I have used rear floor spikes to angle them down to ear level.

These are the challenges when integrating a 2 channel listening room into a multichannel HT with elevated stage. If I had an extra room I would have a dedicated listening room as well.

No WAF issues here at all. Very fortunate.

Cheers
Dwight

AWESOME Dwight!!!!!!
Thanks for the great explanation that you did not owe me, but I do appreciate it!
Great hearing how you have built your HT.
WOW, that is a LOT of thought/research and work (probably expense too) that you have put into your HT.
You had me at 140" screen!!!!! ha ha, Actually you had me at Triton Ones!!!!!
No point to try and give you pointers man, you should be writing the book here!
I had to learn the hard way, and with LOTS of experimentation to get closer and get the distances right.
Sure wish I could come visit and watch a movie or two at your HT and listen to those Ones.
Enjoy Sir,
God Bless,
Wayne
