Makes sense. Different situations. I acknowledge the parts that matter (the dacs, the preamp section etc) are probably better in the Emotiva. For someone looking to replace an AVR though I have to compare apples to apples. I need a processor and 7 channels of amp.

I did hit up the Emotiva forum. It looks like they are working on HDMI 2 for the XMC-1 as well as a what sounds like a lower end processor to slot in below it. If I had a 7ch amp I'd probably jump on the reduced price to be honest.

Yep, I hear you. In my ideal world, I'd have a HT front end that was sufficiently high fidelity for stereo use as well. I am currently far from that. If and AVR or HT separates from Arcam, Rotel, NAD, Anthem, Emotiva etc. would meet that need that changes my budget allocations. I figured I'd spend around $1500 for an AVR and $2500 for a stereo pre-amp and amp. If I can get one unit that scratches that itch, that's different.

Hey Imahawki,
Yes, we all have to live with a budget. Or at least I do.
Just makes me appreciate what I finally do manage to get all the more.
IF you get a great pre-processor, the good thing is, you do not need a separate with a home theater bypass.
And with the way things change so fast on DACs and such, but much more slowly on amp technology, you can get reasonable amps, even used ones to power your speakers (surrounds and rears or overheads, etc do not need that much power as you know)
And spend more money on the processor.
Just food for thought, all the best,
God Bless,
Wayne

Moderator wrote: Yes, you are the only person. We have done this exact same setup at trade shows using various receivers and pre/pros without issue. And yes, the meter, by your measurements, is down 7.5 dB just like we said. What is it you think you are getting the "run around" about? Everyone here seems to have tried to be helpful, the only angry one appears to be you. Please keep things in a positive tone on this forum. otherwise you are probably better off with local support or support from the receiver manufacturer.

I don't think he's the only one. I'm having the exact same issue with my T1's and a Marantz SR7010. I'm pretty fed up with the 7010 and i'm going to return it today.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a Cambridge Audio CXR200. Music is 75% and Movies are 25% for me. I do need the 4k at 60frames though on whatever AVR I use.

Any AVR suggestions are welcome! I'd like to stay around/under 3k
