Dear Triton 2 and 3 owners,
I am assuming and am pretty sure the Triton speakers come with spikes. And I know how important they are to use when the speakers are on carpet to get a good, solid basis to the floor, good coupling with the floor.
BUT I don't have carpet. So would you use spikes in my case, on marble floors?
I can't find the review now, but if I remember correctly, one reviewer recently said wrote about playing the speakers on spikes, giving a better or more stable image. Or some such. Wish I could find exactly what he said.
Anyway, what are you owners doing? Do you see any advantage with spikes over the normal feet on a solid floor?
Thanks for any advice or comments.
Have fun listening,
Wayne

Here it is from the Stereophile review in 2012 by Robert Deutsch, he said: "Spikes are supplied, but we first listened to the speakers without them, which eased the tweaking of the speaker positions." and then later, "Once all three of us were satisfied with the setup, we installed the spikes, which produced a worthwhile improvement in imaging focus."
This could have been because of carpet, I don't know.
Just asking what you guys experiences are????

Hey Wayne:

When you look on the internet the skies the limit on what people think about spiking speakers. In your case simple inexpensive rubber feet may be all you need. I shop (on occasion at mapleshadestore.com). These guys, are into, getting the best sound out of the equipment you already own. If you haven't heard about them, check them out.

My speakers sit on carpet. I've spiked and not spiked...preferred not spiked most of the time. Lately, I've been using shelves out of a stereo cabinet. I threaded 4 spikes into the bottom and placed the Tritons on top. I've tried spiking the Tritons onto the spiked board, but always end up taking the spikes off.

Seems as though there's no right or wrong way about spiking... whatever sounds best to you.

I wonder how many of the tweaks we read about for "getting the best out of our equipment " are snake oil?

Hi Anthem,
Thanks for the feedback. Interesting that you prefer non-spiked most of the time. That is not what is usually recommended, at least for carpet. But I agree with you letting your ears be the final judge.
My ears are not the greatest, NOT GOLDEN by any means. So I usually do all I can to improve my system, make tweeks if they sound reasonable and are affordable, and HOPE the cumulative result will be good. And I cannot complain, my system usually sounds better than anything around (I do not have rich, audiophile friends).
On Thailand, long story----
I was in Kuwait helping with the firefighting effort after Saddam blew up the oilfields, my family living in Houston. Broad daylight, somebody kicked in my home front door (thank God the family was not there), loaded the TV and whatever they wanted into my Toyota and drove off with it. I told the wife to sell the house. Have not lived in the States since '92. Fortunate to work in the oilfield, and can live wherever I want, so I live in beautiful Thailand, wonderful people, warm climate, great food, and I don't have to give LOTS of what I make to Uncle Sam to spend in totally crazy ways that I cannot support.
Sorry, but that was the short version. Ha ha
Thanks for the input and all the best, Wayne

Generally, spikes will improve the sound of any full range floor standing speaker. On wood floors we recommend using the rubber adjustable feet that are included with the Tritons. There also after market spike-cups designed for spiking speakers on wood floors.

Thanks Moderator Dude,
It will be marble floors, with some rugs for sound dampening. So I definitely will set them up first with spikes. They are included, right? That is what I have read,
Still have not rec'd mine, but hopefully soon.
Thanks and keep up the good work on the forum.
