Interesting stuff. Thanks for the information. I think I was avoiding the use of spikes due to the description in the Triton Two manual. It states:
"In addition to the rubber feet, optional spikes have been included should you desire to use them. The use
of these spikes will provide much greater stability when placing your loudspeakers on carpeting. It will also,
according to many experts, result in an overall improvement in sonic performance.
NOTE: Using spikes on wooden or other floors which are susceptible to being scratched can cause damage
to the floor. GoldenEar Technology is specifically not responsible for damage which may result from the use
of spikes."
The wording hints that only when using the spikes on carpeting, I will receive the improved sonic performance. Good to know that's not the case . I might build a DYI maple stand since it's not available for shipping to my country.

Hi Odedia,
I "think" are for anytime, all the time use, ONLY don't blame GET if you mess up your nice wood floors and your wife is suing you for divorce!!!!!
IF you use carpet, even a small piece of carpet under the speakers, then you will need to use the spikes for sure, to get a good, strong coupled support to the floor below.
About the maple wood, well you can try it, you might agree that it helps. I imagine, IF you spend a LOT of time and money on the maple supports, then you would definitely hear a BIG improvement. ha ha
Anyway, it is worth a try if you can build them. But spikes are a big yes, from all I have heard.
Enjoy,
God Bless, Wayne

Hi all, I also posted this on a thread I started about the NaimSuperUniti but thought I'd post here too.
I have triton 2s in a large room (24' by 18' with tile floors, high angled wooden ceilings). I should mentino the floor is very stable, new construction which I think helps minimize return vibrations into the cabinet.
I originally used the rubber feet for the past 1.5 years, due to not wanting to harm the floor. After upgrading to better source equipment, I still found the mid-range and bass a bit muddy and started researching improvements. Many people have said spikes help, and I discussed with Mapleshade owner Pierre and he was kind enough to provide me his view on improvements, which include spiking the speakers and using maple stands to further dampen vibrations.
So far, I have tried the Goldenear supplied spikes, using small metal 'chips' that have a dent in them for the spike part - the chips are made by Dayton and come with their spikes. The chips are metal and have an optional felt pad you can add on the bottom, they are small in diameter and I got the black ones so they match the triton 2 base and spikes and you really don't see them at all (Chief Decor Officer friendly).
To me, the spikes have made a significant difference in mid-lower range definition. I have spent about 5 days with different recordings I know very well (high res digital and vinyl) . I would recommend anyone try this and the Dayton chips are inexpensive , and come with their own spike set so you can even try those but I doubt there will be too much difference
I have ordered 4" maple speaker stands from mapleshade, and so I will also post results. After that I'm thinking about speaker cables and other such things as fun experiments to try.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and etc. on this I'm really enjoying the Tritons. Recently we have had several DJ sessions and just listed to music all night, the SuperUniti and the Tritons are a GREAT match and with good quality sources just so so nice, people really want to hang out and listen with zero listening fatigue. Ultimately, all of this is just to enjoy the music after all!

Pitkow33,
YES, it is all about the music after all. And listening enjoyment and FUN.
Well done, and thanks for the good feedback.
As soon as I get my Tritons in, I will use the spikes straight away. I will spike them directly to the tile floor. Did you try that yet, or not? I wonder if that would help or hurt, without the chips.
Also I am gonna be trying out some new MIT cables. I paid a bit for them, so am hopeful they do wonders like they did in the shop where I demoed them.
I will report back,. but it will be another month it looks like.
Thanks for reporting back.
God Bless,
Wayne

wow, the MIT cables should be very interesting indeed! I'm looking forward to hearing about them. I am a bit afraid of the spikes directly on the floor but I'll give a listen as well and let you know if any difference.
Have fun, and looking forward to your review of the cables.

Thanks
I bought these MIT cables that were Stereophile recommended
www.stereophile.com/cables/1008mit/
When listening in the shop the guy doing the demo for a tube amp I was listening to said, if you really want to hear this properly, I will put the good cables on.
Well, all the stuff the guys over at AVS forum who crab about wire is wire is wire sure are WRONG when it came to what I heard.
I was not much of a true believer, but bought these.
BUT they are still in the box.
By the time my house is built they may be classified like tubes, New Old Stock!!!!!!
Will let you know, and thanks for the interest.
Blessings,
Wayne
