OK now I have the Mapleshade speaker plinths (4" platforms with radiused feet on the tile floor), doing some listening to see if there is a difference between spikes on floor or on the maple stands. pics attached....this will take awhile I think :)

Overall the system is sounding very nice, I still get a 'whoosing' in the left woofer or mid but I think this might be cabling or something like that, need to investigate some more....

Pitkow33,
Those look great. Keep us posted as to how they sound. my fear with these has always been that they raise the speaker to high in relation to the listening position. let us know your findings! B)

This was my worry also. The tweeters will no longer be at ear level... Not sure how much this will really impact anything.

Has anyone tried these with a triton two? I'm thinking about it... Sure is cheaper than then mapleshade product.

odedia,
Not only is it cheaper than the Mapleshade, it only raises the speaker by 1.75 inches vs 4 inches. With the difference in price you could buy four more to raise your sofa/chair to keep your tweeter at ear level, LOL :silly:

Pitkow33,
The maple stands surely do look nice, but I have the same concerns about the height of the speakers now with those on as some of the other brothers have already mentioned.
I remain open and will look forward to hearing what you find out with them.
I don't understand the whoosing sound problem you mentioned; could you tell us more on that as well, especially if we can help you figure it out, or, better yet, tell us what you get figured out.

On these stands or on the others mentioned above, I guess my 2 cents is that I reckon GE knew exactly how tall to make the speakers and they already provided stands with them or bases if you will. My only real question was whether or not to put in the supplied spikes, and I believe the resounding answer to that was YES. do so. I intend to put them in as soon as I get the speakers positioned properly, which might be a few days, but I doubt that I will even bother to try it any other way after that. I must not be as adventurous, or curious as some of you then. Or maybe I am just more in the WWSD (What Would Sandy Do?) camp.

Let us know and in any case, Enjoy, God Bless, Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.
