Hey Guys:
Last Sunday put the stock spikes on Tritons. The wife helped and got it done in no time. Decided too switch from my Adcom preamp to the Anthem Statement d2.v. Am using the 2-channel balanced XLR into CA azur 840C ; interconnects are Audio quest Cheetah.
First up Kombo - cooking out. These guys do the Hammond c3 organ right. The entire CD is great and now with my SPIKED Tritons the sound is superb.
Next up Fingerprints - Summertime Music : love this CD. They have a little bit of everything, vocals, sax, guitar and keyboards. What I've especially noticed is when the volume is cranked up the sound becomes clearer. I normally listen at 85-90 DB eleven feet from speaker.
Also did some Joyce Cooling- Global Cooling. Got it a couple days ago. The tracks Grass Roots & Rhythm Kitchen are a toe tapper. I have almost everything she's put out. I love her uptempo guitar.
As to the question "do the spikes make the speakers sound better or worse and in what ways"? I'd say better with the ability to play very loud with less resonance. Will I keep them on? You bet.
Still want to see how a tube preamp sounds in the system.
Well Wayne,I guess you can't call me spikeless anymore.
Gonna be listening to Dave Koz and Friends - Summer Horns, tomorrow. It's going to be a great weekend.
Everybody have a great Fourth of July!
