We are going for a little trip to Phuket for a few days, but before we go, I watched "The Foreigner" tonight, Pierce Brosnan (who I always like) and Jackie Chan (who also produced this one). And did his own stunts? Probably.
PQ was very good, as was SQ, in 7.1 Nothing astonishing here but the occasional bomb blast gave a good surround sound and subwoofer thrill.
Good acting, decent story, and well done. Nothing reference nor totally outstanding here, just good ole entertainment, revenge story.
I recommend it, not highly but yeah, I like this kind of movie.
Any time there is a daughter theme, I am all in.
God Bless,
Wayne

Saw "The Foreigner" in the theater last year. Had an ease and graceful flow about it. Fun to watch. Juanita loves Jackie Chan.

Hi Guys, we are back from the wonderful island of Phuket.
Watched "USS Indianapolis, Men of Courage" based on a true story.
The PQ was pretty good, the SQ was majestic music in some cases, and pretty tough in the explosion, disaster scenes.
The sound added a lot to the movie, I was so happy to be watching it in my home theater.
The movie is not without faults, it was only rated a medium 2 1/2 stars by most, and I can see why. The fact that a lot was true bothered me, some of the movie is disturbing and some stupid military decisions do not help.
The fact that Nick Cage is not the best actor in the world does not help either, so there was some room for improvement in the movie.
Yet, it bothered me for a few days after, I am writing this after time to digest.
RECOMMENDED, but not great I will say.
YMMV, as always.
God Bless,
Wayne

Welcome back, Wayne!

Any pic's, stories from your visit to Phuket? You've been there before, must love it.

Thanks for the review of Indianapolis, Men of Courage. Haven't seen the flic, but have read about the awful trials the men went through (won't do a plot spoiler, but horrific times in the Pacific in WWII).

Have to think about whether to witness that again on the screen. Men of valor for sure.

Thanks Rick, yes, that movie did get to me a bit.
Phuket is awesome. A bit expensive, not compared to Europe or even the States, but compared to home. (And speaking the language we do get a little better prices than the other tourists!!!)
But the fresh seafood is worth it. Here are a few pics of the girlie mugging for the camera with what we were gonna eat.
And where we stayed. One more showing the difference in youth vs grumpy old man, and in the genders of the species.
I read books, she looks at pics of herself on the phone. They took a thousand pictures, literally, and only one of the scenery.
Oh well.
Thanks for asking.
God Bless,
Wayne
