Thanks Daylightdon,
In your opinion, for those who already have a blu-ray copy, is it worth the additional cost to get the new and improved remaster? That is a great movie, IMHO, but I have seen it so many times, not sure how many more times I will want to watch it, even if it is better looking and sounding.
God Bless,
Wayne

Dear Friends,
Watched 2 blu-rays recently, and will try to report here.
"Mother's Day" is about what you would expect, nothing noticeable in terms of PQ or SQ that I remember, a good evening with the wife and daughter. Entertainment.
Not really recommended but might make for family viewing if you can handle the usual Hollywood agendas.

Much more interesting:
Watched "Bone Tomahawk" With a superb cast and writing. The script is remarkable. The acting not so much. Richard Jenkins and Lili Simmons are not to be missed.
BUT is this Cinema Verite??? Reservoir Dogs meets the Western????
I thought "Hateful Eight" was a shocking Western. WOW!!!
The PQ is not remarkable like Hateful was. SQ is not of demo quality either, but quite good considering.
What little surround there was was used to shock. There was almost no musical score, but when it was used a couple of times, LUSH strings, cello, viola and violin the first time I noticed, then without cello the next, it sounded so great, but I sorta was asking myself, why now as the cowboys are riding their horses along?
IF you are gonna watch this, and I sorta recommended it, put the kids to bed first; even my wife could not handle the blood and gore.
I will be interested if anyone else watched it, what you guys thought?
God Bless,
Wayne

My box of "electronic stuff" shipped from NH when we left, including the new Blu-rays and Living Stereo discs I got there, has arrived, and my third Anti-Cable JUST arrived. The Anti-Cable will get attached to the OPPO today, and I'll be ready to CRANK the GEt HT sound up, and let 'er fly!

Can't wait. First up, Beethoven symphonies. I'll try both analog 5.1 using the OPPO DAC, and Dolby DTX through the Marantz DAC with height channels via HDMI, and see what happens. More to follow....

Happy listening!

Rick
