Im gonna mix it up a bit and share some songs I love from a bunch of differrent bands withing one genre I really like:

Southern Rock

I will say that outside of Johnny Cash,Jimmy Buffett and Marty Robbins im not a fan of country music, but I do love me some southern rock!

We shall start with Blackfoot's Highway Song...kinda Freebird-ish but when one imitates one of the greatest songs ever its not always a bad thing.

This song usually is all I need to put my mind back into perspective...simply beautiful

A little Steve Earle

Another classic from Lynyrd Skynryd

some Point Blank

The Outlaws,such an underrated band

One of LS's lesser known classics

Love the story told in the lyrics of this one

Molly Hatchett

Hurry Sundown..Outlaws

Yet another LS hidden beauty

While not quite "rock" this list would be incomplete without this track

Many have covered this song...this is one of my favorites...RIP Levon Helm

Live Lynryd(Can you tell I love me some Skynyrd?)

One of the best songs ever written

Impossible to wrap this thread up without these final 2 songs...cant decide which shall be the encore...so we shall call it the encore-

1...the classic,often imitated,never duplicated...truly a masterpiece

2.The ultimate guitar song...I can close my eyes and listen to this song over and over...and over...just blows my mind. This one needs to be cranked to 11

Id love to hear some songs and bands I might have overlloked,as southern rock, slide guitars and story tellin' is one of my favorite genres.

Thanks Bro, now this is music I know and love, or some new, I am pretty positive I will like it. My kind of music!!!!
Marshall Tucker Band needs to have an honorable mention here for "Can't you see?"
God Bless,
Wayne

Every Saturday night the wife and I take turns buying supper...tonight it was her turn. She brought home barbecue from Dickeys, a new place that opened up a couple of weeks ago. Had two meats and two sides...was real good. While she was out I had a chance to listen to John Scofield....cranked loud.

John Scofield/Groove Elation (1995)

John Scofield--electric and acoustic guitar
Larry Goldings--organ and piano
Dennis Irwin--bass
Idris Muhammad-drums

Love the electric guitar/ organ, piano combination. Favorite songs from this listening session were "Carlos" and "Let it Shine ".
Equipment used was: Emotiva xpa-1's>PrimaLuna Premium Preamp>Cambridge Audio Azur 840c>Radio Shack speaker cables & interconnects.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Have been listening to a medley of different songs. I have decided to try something different today. Instead of listening on my Triton 7s, I have been playing files off my mac onto my Sennhieser HD800 headphones. The poor headphones have been ignored for so long, I had to take them out for a spin. Headphone listening is different. The music is as detailed as my Triton 7s (maybe more), but the "imaging" is not even close - how can it be, when the music is right next to my ears? Started with Dido's "Life for rent" followed by Rokia Traore's "Beautiful Africa". Rokia Traore has a beautiful, haunting voice that is seductive and moving! Listen you have to!!!
