Well, we're back in TX. Enjoying all this Hi-res talk and thinking about how/when to add anything other than current capability to play SACD, Blu-ray etc. via the OPPO 105.

I'm a surround guy also.... fired up the GEt HT system as soon as we got home yesterday, played 2 channel up mixed to 9 channel surround, and just immersed myself in that wonderful sound. Man, I missed that! Guitar plucks so real, again, dynamics so amazing, bass so sweet, human voices so real and natural, a feeling of being in a concert hall... Almost heaven....

Tomorrow is T Ref and new amp day! More to follow on that on a T Ref thread probably.

As for next steps, for me, beyond what I can now do/stream, I guess I'll wait for my checkbook to cool awhile before tackling any other projects, but Hi-res intrigues me, as long as I can marry it with surround..

As to Hi Res, you can play Blu-ray concerts and BR audio discs, and you can play Hi Res SACD DSD all in surround sound so you are really there Bro Rick.
I can do that too, but my Oppo 95 might not be the best these days. AND I keep downloading DSD files since I cannot ship from Amazon over here very well any more. And playing the DSD files back in surround sound has proven beyond me at this time.

Re what first piece of music I will play on the T Ref's, since I will be going to the audio store first thing to hear their 2 channel T Ref setup as a reference point, I will do a 2 channel piece, "My Maria", by Brooks and Dunn. I've heard that live in concert, played it on many systems. In other auditions, it's one of the pieces that convinced me to get the T2's originally, and to upgrade to the T1's later. I know it well, and want to hear what the TR's do with the dynamics, bass, detail and sound stage, Ronnie Dunn's voice as it reaches higher notes... Also, Eric Clapton's unplugged "Tears in Heaven". I've used that piece in auditions also... gotta hear what speakers do with unplugged guitar.

Once I'm set up at home, Blu-rays also will come out, like The Eagle's Farewell Tour, Beethoven Symphonies, Mumford and Sons, action movies. And trying more 2 channel stuff both on TR's only, pure direct, and upmixed to surround. Whoa! I'm getting ahead of myself here.
