Going back and listening again to all my reference quality music since I made a system upgrade.
3 days ago I mentioned and recommended again the 2L recording "Remote Galaxy", though I failed to mention that it is from those good folks at 2L.
Tonight I brought out another from 2L, "Magnificat". I have recommended this disc before as well, this has it all, from Soprano solo that will send shivers through you, to chorals that sound like a choir of angels, to supporting strings that also sound heavenly, all the way down to the organ which underpins everything, giving a fantastic foundation to the sound.
I did not even know there was organ on this, but it adds a lot.
This is totally reference, show off yer system, music. But also uplifting, soaring music.
It ain't rock and roll, but it is awesome in its own way.
This is Blu ray audio, DTS MA 5.1 24/192 or 7.1 24/96 or stereo 24/192 or 5 tracks in Auro 3D 9.1 24/96.
I listen in 5.1 but my processor plays the rear channels too. The sound is all encompassing, engrossing, uplifting.
But no video. EXCEPT this disc does have one song on video as an extra, and it is so interesting to put faces to the singing and instruments. Oddly, that humanizes this music, and takes away a bit from the angelic vision I have when they are singing.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

I finally have some joy I was missing!!!!
Not only has my system come together now, much better than ever before, but I finally got a little wire I was able to order locally, but came from America, and now I can play my DSD downloads through my Triton Ones and system.
Blu-ray music, SACDs, DVD-Audio, all these sources of Hi Res music sound terrific now, wonderful. But the SACDs that I ordered so I can compare with my download files have not come, specifically the Rachmaninov Sym #2 conducted by Ivan Fischer. It is sitting at my freight forwarder in California, to ship to Thailand but they will not ship it. My orders from March are still stuck in Thai customs over here and no idea when they will clear. And now they dare not ship anything further. So it is sitting there, I have no idea when or IF I will ever be able to listen to this wonderful music in surround sound, mulit-channel as God intended it.
BUT I finally got a optical cable, 5M long, and plugged it into the back of my XMC-1 optical input, and the other end into my Cowon Plenue M2 DAP so now I can play the DSD files such as the Rach. which live on my DAP through my system.
DREAMY, SMOOTH, POWERFUL, BUTTERY, WARM, DELICIOUS sound now emanating from my T Ones. Not the surround sound I wanted, but I can now listen to at least the 2 channel versions of all this music I have been cheering on here, the ones I have downloaded, and they do sound AWESOME!!!!!
Happy here,
God Bless,
Wayne

Wayne,
Glad you found a solution that works for you. As you know, I'm a 2-channel guy, and I find that good enough for me. At least you can listen now until your shipment arrives.
A lot of people bad mouth optical, but I use it to link from my Samsung Smart TV to my Oppo, and I've never noticed any problems with it.
Happy listening.

Thanks Charlie, appreciated!!!!
I think what bothers me, is something I am not sure about.
I LOVE the sound of my Cowon Plenue M2 DAP. To my ears the Burr Brown DAC/chip inside sounds better, more musical, more natural than my Oppo Sabre chips, and probably my Emo XMC-1. This optical connection takes the signal from my DAP to the XMC-1 and I would bet (but am not sure) that the XMC-1 uses its own DAC to decode and play the music coming from the DAP.
In which case I may be missing/losing some of the benefit of playing from my DAP rather than putting those files on my laptop and playing them from there.
Does that make any sense?
I am new to this music "files" thing. And I am not ready to try and turn my poor old laptop into a "music server" somehow.
That would take quite a bit of work, programs and knowledge which I do not have, and I did not even mention patience, ha ha.
God Bless,
Wayne

Wayne,
I used to use my Oppo 105D as DAC, but when I moved to my Aurelic Vega DAC, there was a noticeable improvement in the sound. Much sweeter and more natural.
I now use my Oppo as a digital data and file server. I run my TV audio out via optical to my Oppo. I have an Amazon Fire Stick plugged into the Oppo's front HDMI port. And (killer solution), I have a Western Digital Passport 1 TB external hard drive plugged into the Oppo rear USB port. All Oppo audio output is via digital coax that goes to my Vega. The Oppo HDMI out goes to my TV.
The nice thing about this setup is that the Oppo will read and display on the TV (or the Oppo smart phone app) all the files on the external Passport drive. It pulls the files and pushes the digital data to my Vega DAC. It will supposedly handle up to 192 kHz data, but I believe (may be wrong) it only supports 2 channel via the coax. I have not tried using DSD files this way. I seem to remember a limitation there.
To push DSD files to my Vega DAC, I'd have to use a laptop with the Aurelic DSD driver installed. I haven't gotten that far yet; after blowing bucks on my TRefs and Bel Canto amps, I want to digest a while.

Thanks Charlie, that really is interesting to me!
I know LOTS of people are getting into DACs, Bro Art has a thread on them, I can imagine there are quite a few out there that
give better sound than what I have in my Oppo 95 for sure, it is getting long in the tooth!!!! And even over my XMC-1 probably.
BUT
BUT
BUT
So far, nearly all except the mega buck DACs I have heard about are still living in the past, POS, poor old stereo. That is like Black and White to me. I am a Technicolor man!!!!
What are all those Triton Twos and Threes and SC-X and all those amps supposed to do when I am listening to POS, sit there and listen with me????? And wish we were getting the real deal????
Sorry, I know you are a two-channel man, and you are enjoying a treat at that these days, good for you!!!!!
I will wait on a DAC, but one of these days fairly soon, I may go with the Oppo UDP 205, that DAC is two steps beyond the one I have and could well be quite pleasing to listen to in surround sound.
Just wait to get a jail break version here, so it will play all the discs I have from everywhere.
OK,
Happy listening,
God Bless,
Wayne
