Has anybody else had trouble ordering music from the Amazon?????
I have ordered music that they took forever to send, and in at least 2 cases they just finally cancelled my order, said they just couldn't deliver.
And the top winner music I found so far on Hi Res, the Rachmaninoff Sym 2 with Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orch. which is so great, I REALLY want to buy the SACD so I can listen to it in surround sound, play it on my wonderful GEt Ones and home theater, has been "temporarily out of stock" for months now, they just cannot seem to get it back in stock.
NOW, I am no genius, but it seems to me that this is just a matter of copying music onto a disc. How hard can it be, how long can it take???????
AND I do not know anywhere else to buy it? Any suggestions????
Thanks, God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Hi Wayne,

Usually if Amazon says it's in stock, it is, but if it shows out of stock, then it's anybody's guess as to when it may -- or may not -- reappear. In that case I've had excellent luck going to the 3rd party resellers on the Amazon site. They often have "Like New" used in stock, and they usually do a much better job of packaging for shipment. (Most Amazon CDs I order arrive with cracked or broken jewel cases.) You might give them a try.

Yeah, I have a suggestion. Listen to the Grateful Dead. I believe as they do. Music should be free. :cheer:
Golden Ear Triton Reference (pair), Musical Fidelity M6si, Schiit Yggdrasil-OG-B, Oppo UDP-205, Emotiva ERC-3, LG OLED65C9PUA, Salamander Synergy Triple Unit SL20, Audeze LCD-X, GIK acoustic paneling

Wayne,

I buy almost exclusively from Presto Classical in England. Reliable, no VAT (at least none to USA), excellent shipment service, constant sales, etc. I checked their Channel Classics stock, but did not see the Rachmaninov #2 listed - plenty of other recordings by Ivan Fischer & the Budapest Orchestra.

Set up an account with Presto, then contact them by email and give them the disc particulars. Ask them if they can order and deliver. I'll bet they can - I have completed special orders with them in the past.

Best,

Art

Wayne, I looked at the Amazon 3rd party folks, and there is a Used Like New available from monteclarr2. At this moment in history, anyway.

Art,

Took me a while to reply. Your experience -- and likes -- with CD sound mirror mine very well. Add to that the extended bass response in CDs, which really made a big difference for me. Even today, a lot of digitally remastered analog recordings from the 50s and early 60s lack that bottom end. I think the recording engineers were dialing it down because they knew they were going to vinyl with its bass limitations. Late 60s and 70s recordings seem to fare better in this regard.

I envy your performance experience. I'm sure that knowledge adds a great deal to your listening!

Let us know how your experiment works.

On the Hi Res topic, sort of: If you guys haven't purchased these already, I highly recommend the Decca Dutoit/Montreal set (35 CDs, all digital recordings) and the Decca Sound "The Analog Years" (54 CDs). The Dutoit set has the consistently best recorded orchestral sound I have heard. The Analog Years set has an excellent booklet with a great history of the development of Decca recording technology. Some of the CDs illustrate the different microphone techiques used, and I can clearly hear the differences. I think these are well worth the money.
