Fred, it sounds like you will have a fantastic system when you get back from vacation and can set up the new References!!!!
Just looking at your system on paper, and this is just an off the cuff remark, best guess backseat driver sorta thing, you may want to go with an upgraded amp/pre-amp or processor setup sometime in the future to feed the best quality possible signal to that fantastic speakers. I am sure they should sound great now, but IF I were gonna try for the moon, I would think that would be the first area of possible improvement.
Bro Rick, I somebody in Rochester, N. Y. has a used pair of Aon 3s for sale, just the thing you need for your listening pleasure up there in N. H.
Naaaah, you are not interested in that right now, you are planning, figuring out how to get them Reference speakers into your listening room down in Texas. Call the florist, you will need LOTS of flowers!!!!
Happy listening boys,
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

GDHAL:
Butt-Kickin' review thus far. You truly are a writer.
I noticed in your write-up, you said, " It is taking just a bit more power to drive these speakers in comparison to the T1. Do you feel my Decware Tori Mk4 rated at 25 watts would provide sufficient power. I listen to jazz at low to moderate levels 99% of the time. My current T2's have had a love affair with the Tori, will the References share that love?
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Hey, Anthem

Don't mean to preempt anything GDHAL wishes to add...

My dealer drives the T Ref's with a 38 wpc Primaluna tube amp, same as they used for the T1's for demo's. No issues whatsoever with power. With the added efficiency of the T Ref vs the T2, I'd guess I'd bet real money that your sweet Tori at 25 amps would make those Ref's just sing!

Just sayin'.....

Thank you very much anthem for the kind words regarding my writing/review.

I would answer your question as yes, I do think your Decware Tori Mk4 would provide sufficient power. I did attempt to look at the specs for that amp: www.decware.com/newsite/TORIIMK4.pdf thinking there would be a manufacturers recommendation as to the ohmic value of the speaker it prefers, and read no such information. However, given that you listen at low/moderate levels, your amp is already driving the T2 satisfactorily, the compatibility of 8 ohms is GETs rating for both the Reference and T2 and the fact that the Reference is more efficient than the T2, I don't see why it wouldn't be sufficient power.

If this is of major concern, it might be wise to wait until some professional review produces impedance curve characteristics across the entire audio frequency range. My own observation is admittedly somewhat surprising, but note I indicate "it is taking just a bit more power to drive these speakers". The operative words there are *just a bit more*. I then go on to write " For now, the difference is so slight that I’m inclined to dismiss my findings in this regard."

Wayne,
Your observation is excellent. In fact my dealer said for me to live with the system for about six months or so, and then evaluate new equipment to see if I can hear enough difference to justify the purchase. I do agree with you that ideally a better amplifier for the Reference speakers would be ideal, but my original budget was about $5,000 less than I have already spent!

I did listen to the Triton One with the Anthem receiver and it sounded great to me. (Of course, I must admit that this is my first foray into high end sound.) I think as my ear develops I will upgrade some of the components and I will probably be back on this forum looking for suggestions too.
