But I am sure the gamut will be a long time coming.
However I can listen as you suggest, when it comes in. My XMC-1 will play in All Stereo and also has many options for synthesized surrounds, the typical Dolby and DTS ones. I am not thrilled with them at all though.
When I watch the TV I always listen to a matrixed surround like DTS Neo 6 Movies or Music.
That helps some, especially on football games.
BUT like just now, I am listening to a new Norah Jones in POS and when I first put it on (same mistake I have made a million times!!!!!) I thought, why is this sounding so crappy???
Looked and sure enough, it was in matrixed surround mode for watching TV, what it is set to default to when my processor encounters POS. When I set it for DIRECT, then I got real two channel, great sound!!!!
Will report soon on her and this shipment of shiny discs that finally got her from the Amazon.
