OK Guys,
After two months, got the A/C fixed got the bass unit on my T 2 replaced and working, and finally got the Triton Ones dialed in where I am happy. Then last night I FINALLY ran DIRAC, my room correction software.
I have spent a LOT of time listening to music, my systems in the past, and those of friends, some in dealer's showrooms as well. Kinda got an idee what I am listening to, listening for.
No, NO GOLDEN EARS, except for our favorite speakers. But my own ears are not that great.
And yet when I played the Ones without room correction I was able to hear two different and distinct things. The first, early sounds from the speakers are awesome, the best I have ever owned by far!!!! I was hearing exceptional speaker reproduction. Wonderful highs, great midrange and bass to die for, full, weighty and deep!!!! NEVER had this kind of sound available in my home before.
BUT then secondly the bass excited the room like I could not believe. Incredible amounts of REAL BASS bouncing off the walls, doing nasty things in the room. Rattling things, booming, etc.
Now that might be alright up to a point for an explosion in a movie, but not so great listening to music.
Therefore I had to run room correction to tame some bass nasties. Perhaps other gremlins as well, because now that I have run it, the whole picture becomes more clear. The amazing resolution of these speakers is even better now. Highs are more articulate and clearer, surprisingly.
Vocals are more immediate and "there". And now the bass is spot on, articulate, every instrument sounds like an instrument playing, not just a low growl/thrum.
The downside? I feel like I lost a little bit of the power and the glory! I have to turn up the volume some to compensate. And there is a little more "sameness of sound", the Ones sound more like the Twos now, which is not a bad thing.
The Ones are still way better sounding than the Twos, and the bass is off the charts!!!!

Oh, for home theater, with Ones in the front, an X in the center, Twos on the sides (Ones and Twos connected by LFE) and Threes in the rear aided by a FF 5 back there, my movie sound now is SCARY GREAT!!!! It is the best I ever heard!!!! And the beginning Day of the Dead scene of 007's "Spectre" will just dumbfound you!!!! Especially the explosions, the wall falling scene. WOW!!!!
OK, I will stop bragging now. Just wanted to share my joy with this system, this sound.
God Bless,
Wayne (I have gotten my Christmas presents early!!!)
God bless the child that's got his own.

Wayne,

Thanks for the great follow up report! I have not used Dirac, but you may want to consider just correcting the low frequencies as Moderator Dude had suggested with the ARC software by Anthem. He recommended only correcting frequencies below 500 Hz. Taming those nodes but leaving the excitement of the mid and high frequencies may return some of the magic of the T1s. Just a thought. Happy listening!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hey Bro T. Cobe,
I admit to not having the best hearing, and I don't write what I hear all that well either. But I did not mean to suggest that I lost anything when I used my room correction. The T Ones sound magnificent!!! And everything sounds cleaner, less congested, now that the music is not corrupted by the room interactions.
BUT you may have a great point there. I plan to re-run DIRAC with it only the lowest frequencies filtered and check if that is better.
DIRAC is very powerful and can be configured in great ways, but I don't know how to use it well. Still working on it.
Thanks for your good suggestion, I am still learning.
God Bless,
Wayne

Wayne,

I'm still learning how to use ARC on my Anthem as well. There are a lot of settings that I don't fully understand at this point. I know that using the automatic ARC results did not work well for me but I have had good results with trial and error. Results will no doubt vary depending on many factors. I think we're both fortunate to have a very flexible room correction program to help us address the less than ideal acoustics in our theaters. Achieving great sound is a journey, not a destination, correct? Please keep us posted.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Yes, Bro T. Cobe,
But I am getting there, hope you are too!
I must admit to being as happy as a kid at Christmas already. My movie watching/listening, concert watching/listening is FIRST RATE AWESOME!!!!!!
And you know that is my main reason for the theater.
As far as POS and just listening to make sure I have the best sound system in Thailand (I THINK that is a given) there may be some more tweaking that can be done. And I will keep on that journey, as you mentioned.
But speaking of being happy as a kid at Christmas, Merry Christmas to you and your family,
and all our GEt family here!!!!!
God bless you all, each and every one!!!!
Wayne
