Rather than go back and bump one of my old threads, if you guys don't mind, I will start this new one.
You may remember that I have a home theater with T 2s in front, fed by Oppo 95 and tubed CD player through the XMC-1, via Vincent tube/hybrid mono amps. Center is SC X fed by a mono Vincent tube/hybrid. For surrounds I have T 3s fed by a Bel Canto eVo amp and rear surrounds are T 7s fed by mono class D amps.
In addition I have a ForceField 5 set up in the middle rear of the theater filling in for movie booms and crashes. This sub is able to rattle the CD jewel boxes in the room, rattle the brick/concrete walls, etc. I had to find a different way to keep CDs, stacking them, not placing them side by side.
I have not been satisfied with my bass on music. I do not find that the FF5 plays low enough for lowest pedal notes of the organ, the beginning of "Thus Sprach Zarathustra" (2001 space odyssey for those that know it this way) does not cut it, nor does several other deep organ pieces I have.
I have wanted, hankered for a 15" sub for this reason. BUT when I look at the price, it is too much to accept, when HONESTLY, I NEVER play this kind of music, only for demo and system checking purposes. I decided to look at it differently, after all these years!
What I am REALLY the most unhappy with is bass in music. I am not getting the agile, heft and gravitas, full thrum and movement of the cello, bowed bass, tympani, etc. from concerts as well as stereo music or movies. Do you know what I mean? The T 2s are great, but could be better/fuller/stronger and more awesome on bass. The subs that do have this kind of bass are not the 15 inchers, that play the lowest notes so well, but the more agile, multi driver subs costing as much as a new set of speakers.
SOOOOO, I went back and re-read a lot of the reviews of the Triton Ones, and found that GEt had indeed invested these speakers with a LOT of bass and drivers, 3 drivers and 4 radiators per side in fact, and all crossed over at 100Hz. I got to thinking that perhaps it is the Ones that I need in front after all, and to let the FF5 sub in the back of the room take care of explosions on movies, which it does fine.
I contacted my friend in Bangkok with GEt, he must be the BEST distributor in the world, he is shipping a pair of Ones to me, to my home to let me try them!!!! In my home theater!!!!!
I am WAY past excited!!!!
My theater is smallish, not quite sure I have room for them, but I plan to put the T 2s at the side surrounds and move the T 3s to the living room. Both the T Ones and the 2s will have the LFE inputs attached.
What do you guys think? Will this be the answer, the audio Nirvana I am looking for??????

I'm glad to hear you are finally getting around to at least auditioning the T1s. I would bet money they aren't going back once you have them in place. Don't worry about space. They really don't take up much more than the T2s. They mostly appear taller.

To my ears, the biggest difference between the T2 and T1 was clarity. I've never had any issues with bass with my T1s but I will say that my interconnects have played a huge roll in the amount of bass I get in my setup. Switching between the Monoprice, Mogami, and Nordost XLRs I have on hand makes a big difference. The Mogamis lose a tremendous amount of low frequency energy and shrink the sound stage significantly. I have also noticed the same effect with various speaker wires.

I'm not saying upgrading the wires in your system will be necessary. I think the Signal Cables you have are probably top notch but it's worth testing if you still experience lack of bass with the T1s. I have a large room that has a significant amount of acoustic treatments that absorb a lot of bass and I still only have my gain knob on my T1s at 12:00.

I'm excited to hear your impressions. With the quality of your electronics, I think the T1s will blow you away! The T2s are great speakers, for sure! The T1s take everything that is great about the T2s and improves upon it. Make sure you have some help wrestling those speakers in place when they arrive!

I agree with T Cobe, I don't think the T1's will be going back.... As for T1 fronts, T2 surrounds, I have loved that combo from the start. As I'm sure you will be playing a lot of surround music, will you be able to move the T2's to surrounds for the audition? I'll bet you'll love the bass heft, smoothness and immersion of the combo. And the T1's, for me, do an amazing job all by themselves. they just dig deep and clean on bass, present audio in stunning clarity and smoothness, keep presenting me with "well I never heard THAT before" moments.

I'm excited for you!!!! Can't wait to read your impressions and reactions. I'll bet you'll test out one of the Beethoven symphonies with your new set-up. I'll be curious what the new combo does for your SQ impressions. I just love the dynamics and depth in those recordings.

I am moving the T 2s back, and frankly not expecting them to ever move back to the front of the class.
YEAH, I will be playing some Beethoven!!!
Finding more blu-ray (music only) discs that I will be using for demos and writing/reporting on soon.

I understand your comments about unsatisfactory bass and I applaud your honesty in writing about your concerns. For most of my 65 years of listening to recorded music, I have yearned for more bass. I suspect that many other long-time serious listeners might feel the same way.

Bravo for your opportunity to audition T1s in your home. I predict that they will remain in place after the audition period is over. However, I will also predict that, just adding the T1s will not fully resolve your desires for more bass. The T1s are certainly capable of producing a lot of bass, depending upon how they are driven. But, I'll bet that your T2s are also capable of producing more bass, if driven differently.

I believe I speak from experience. I have always driven my T1s with my Onkyo NR 3009 AV Receiver. And, I have almost always listened to music with the Onkyo set to the "Pure Audio" mode. With the Onkyo set to "Pure Audio" I have the option to provide analog bass signals directly to the Sub-woofer pre-output jack via a setting called "Analog Direct". With Analog Direct set to "Sub-Woofer ON", the receiver feeds bass signals directly to the Sub-woofer pre-out jack. This action is not dependent upon the setting for the Front Speakers (Large or defined bass cutoff). In this mode, analog music bass signals are being fed directly to my T1s LFE inputs.

While in this mode, I have experimented with various settings of the LFE controls on my T1s - with the Analog Direct feature turned both ON and OFF. When it is turned OFF, I have found that, without the bass signals being fed directly to the LFE inputs on my T1s, the bass levels are simply inadequate for my tastes - even if I turn the LFE gain controls on my T1s to about the 3 o'clock position (75% up). But, with Analog Direct turned ON, I have plenty of bass with the T1s LFE control set to around the 10 o'clock position.

Your amplifiers may not have this feature, but, if not, I suspect they will have some sort of "Double Bass" setting which feeds analog music bass directly to the amplifier's sub-woofer pre-out jack. I urge you to find this setting, turn it ON, and experiment with your T2s before your T1s arrive, then experiment with your T1s as well.

Bottom line for me is that, without having analog music bass signals present at my T1 LFE inputs, I would not be happy with the bass response from my setup. But, with bass present at those terminals, I am a happy listener.
