Ben,
I believe Moderator Dude has said the T2s are at a flat frequency response with the sub gain at the 10:00 position. At 12:00, you're definitely a bit hot. I also notice my mids getting overwhelmed by the sub section on my Tritons if I go too high, but I love extra bass as well, so I added a sub I had laying around for both home theater and stereo music. It gave me that little extra bass I wanted (not needed) and kept everything clean up front.
You could be sitting in a bad spot for bass as well. Have you walked around the room while the music is playing? It would be interesting to see if your PLP is in an area that has decreased low frequencies. That would really be some bad luck with acoustics if that was the case. Hopefully you'll get things worked out. Start with the gain at 10:00 and work up from there.
Cheers,
T Cobe
