Sounds like you've identified that it's an acoustics issue. My bet would be the open space on the right side of your listening room. Is that open to a bar or kitchen of some sort? I noticed the stool and what looks like an open space. Anyways, rooms with an open space on one side can present challenges, or so I've read.

I wouldn't give up on the Primaluna just yet. My guess is that once you get your acoustics straightened out, it will sound much better and give the Rotel some serious competition. Your blessed with some great gear! Let us know how things progress.

Are the speakers in phase with each other?

Yes. Ever hooked your speakers up out of phase? It sounds horrifying. Try it.

How far apart? I have a 7' equilateral triangle setup now. Seems like I would have a hole in the middle if I go further.

I'd play with the spacing each way to see how it plays with your acoustics. Either direction may do the trick. It's certainly worth the time to try. While the standard GET recommendation is as wide apart as possible, I suspect in this case that putting them closer together may help more. Just a guess based on the room configuration.

Ben, I have Triton 2s and I love them!!!! They are awesome speakers!!!!
I have mine around 11 feet apart, and sit around 11 feet from them.
I didn't catch how much room you have, but it doesn't matter, the point here for you is to take some time and patiently dial those babies in.
Toe in and distance from the corners and rear wall are all options you need to work with to find where the speakers sound and image best.
I assure you that you will be rewarded for your patience and effort. It might take a few days,
Have fun with it, you will get some exercise too, going back and forth from speakers to your main listening seat.
