I concur on Moonlight being a bit of a miss and over rated. Some movies do well based on the plot and timing and I think this may be one of them. I didn't find the acting very well done and the film was a bit slow. I haven't seen La La Land yet, but probably need to check it out: along with Collateral Beauty. I need some uplifting films.

Cheers,

Collateral Beauty was really bad IMO.

I am so far behind, who reported on "Passengers"????? Sorry, I went back and did not find it, but I FINALLY watched it tonight.
SQ was fine but nothing reference that I noticed. It was only 5.1 and I guess IF it was great sound sometime, I missed noticing it, which I some times do, because I get caught up in the movie. And I DID get caught up in this movie. Yeah, some of it drug along a little, but the sets were so Totally awesome (talk about an 'infinity pool', get outta town!!!!) and the PQ was insane, wonderful, I just loved it.
Good story, and surprisingly, the acting was WAY better than I thought it was gonna be.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, this was just good movie making IMHO.
Good stuff.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, Wayne. I covered this one on my end back in March. The PQ was amazing and the film pretty good. Jennifer Lawrence is easy to look at, but is also a pretty talented young actress.

Yes, Bro T. thanks, I see it there now, just did not go back far enough.
You wrote a great review, I just wanted to add my other thumbs up, the fat guy needed to add the thumbs up!!!!
I will have to go back and listen for the great LFE you mentioned, I didn't catch it. (In the really exciting part???)
I never liked J. Lawrence in the Hunger Games, thought she acted wooden, and felt the same in several following movies. But she does VERY well in this one. Yeah, she looks pretty good too.
I thought this was the best looking long haul space vehicle I EVER SAW in a movie. Best design, there was little enough scientific sense, but even then by suspending belief a bit, this was great.
I thought the bartender was a great reference to the one in "The Shining".
I finally feel like I am watching some really good movies again.
God Bless,
Wayne

OK, tonight an oldie but Goldie, "John Carter of Mars" based on "The Princess of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Yes, this is my boyhood talking. I LOVED these books, much better than the Tarzan books.
Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights fame is joined by LOTS of heavy weight actors, including Bryan Cranston and Willem Dafoe in a great version, Disney did it well.
In DTS HD 7.1 the sound is fine, just what it needs to be, but not reference. PQ is great on blu-ray, nothing reference either.
The story is well told, solid acting. I actually had this disc and it went bad, corrupted. I bought it again off Amazon, it is well worth having in my collection.
Obviously HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Hope some will see it if you haven't yet, God Bless,
Wayne
