WayneWilmeth wrote: Tonight we watched "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk".

The sound was wonderful too, especially in the war/shooting scenes.... the half time spectacle is fantastic.

RECOMMENDED, PQ is REFERENCE and SQ is sorta demo quality in an underwhelming way.
We liked it, the whole family. But we are an odd bunch.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, Wayne

I watched this today... coulda' used a Kleenex or two toward the end...

I guess I'm in the "odd bunch" category also. Though I had to use "suspension of disbelief" a couple times... Bravo on tour for it's heroism would have been on a TIGHT LEASH in the real world by a military looking for the best possible PR, and some of the things they did on leave/touring would never have flown. But I got past that.

When the war scene flashback/halftime show sequence came up, I about jumped out of my chair! Fantastic is a good description for the SQ! Holy cow. Another "Holy ****" moment. I seem to get those frequently with GEt's...

Next up, probably Monday, T, is your recommendation of "A Monster Calls". And yes, I'll play it loud!

Beyond that on the "waiting to be played" cue is "Jupiter Ascending". Don't know that much about it, it was recommended somewhere as a great Atmos demo.. will probably review this on the Atmos thread

Last night, the lovely missus, sitting in the room with me, not watching my movie, but getting to hear it and jumping outta her skin occasionally, says to me, "Why do you always watch movies so loud?????"
Not answering, acting like I didn't hear her, do you think that was the right move??????
God Bless,
Wayne

Juanita says, "Shame on you, Wayne...don't ignore your wife"
Ask for Jeen's forgiveness.
Juanita has spoken. ;)

I've played two Blu-rays in the last couple days: "A Monster Calls"and "Jupiter Ascending".

Since Jupiter Ascending is in native Atmos format, I'll report on that on the Atmos thread.

So, A Monster Calls... good recommendation, T! Yes, a couple Kleenex were in order. Loud works! SQ was good throughout, LFE well used. Liam Neesan's voice as the monster comes through deep and clear. Good story, well acted.

Enjoyed it (through an occasional nose wipe)! I'll second the recommendation.
