So Friends,
I am glad this is a safe place, free from politics and any other kind of tics!!!!
I am getting seriously overloaded these days, can't even open up my FB and the durn election is OVER.
I can't wait until the SuperBowl, though I don't have a dog in this hunt. I just love football and this one should be a good game. Then it is SAD as can be until Sept. that football is over.
Meantime, to tune out the world, and get my mind right, I put on Brahm's Third Symphony.
This is his shortest at around 45 mins, and he wrote it in a summer!!!! Remember the first one took 15 years, the second a year, this on during the summer. And it is DIFFERENT!
It starts slowly and ends even slower, sorta fades away. BUT this is GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!
PROFOUND!!!!!! Listen to the 3rd movement, it is some of the most beautiful music ever produced on this planet, IMHO. Moving!!!! The melody is to die for!!!!!
This is accessible stuff, even for classical.
WOW!!!!!
I was just dumbstruck, could not even write this review for over a day. There is just no way to do it justice. You have to hear it to believe it.
Brahms 3rd Symphony, 3rd Movement. Do yourself a favor.
Do something nice for your ears and your brain.
Your heart!!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

WayneWilmeth wrote: Tonight I picked up something that did not look like it should wait until family movie night again this weekend. "Morgan" it was, and it had 7.1 surround sound. At least that is what the legend said, though I never noticed any real use of surround at all. Perhaps on a gunshot.
It stars Kate Mara, and the girl who played Ygritte in "Game of Thrones", you know nothing Jon Snow--that girl.
The PQ was just OK as well and the movie was not nearly as good as the popcorn.
Not recommended, but if you have nothing better to do waiting on the SB you might give it a spin like I did.
And Kate Mara is in it.
God Bless,
Wayne

Uh there could be a whole thread on Kate Mara vs. Ygritte... yowza! And plenty of material out there for evidence to support either cause. A shame the movie wasn't good.

^^Agreed Imahawki!

OK, we missed family movie night last night, so we did a twofer today.
First up, "Keeping Up with the Jones" comedy time. This was really good.
PQ was quite good, and SQ was serviceable. Nothing reference here.
BUT RECOMMENDED watching. It stars Gal Gadot and some other people.
Someone pls tell me, is the t pronounced in her last name, just in case I meet her sometime????
This was family sorta OK, not bad, and funny. Not brilliant but funny. Well done and some good extras with it. And did I mention that Gal Gadot is in it?????
Second we watched what Bro T. recommended, if I remember correctly, "Kubo and the Two Strings". OK, this was in 3D, real 3D actually, though you could not prove it by me. PQ did not impress at all. Nor did SQ. My wife kept asking me a hundred questions though, trying to figure out what was going on and I was trying to read the subtitles as fast as I could, OUCH. I did not get it.
NOT RECOMMENDED by me. YMMV.
DUMB, IMHO. And there were 3 strings?????
I did like the cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps during the credits though. That was all I liked.
God Bless,
Wayne

Again, I will revisit one that has already been well reviewed (reviewed very well) by Imahawki. I went back and reread your review and read it all this time, and well done!!!!
I looked at it differently, literally.
The movie poster advertises the movie as "REAL 3D" and so I bought it in 3D and watched it thus, but after I was quite disappointed (the underwater scenes were pretty good 3D) I researched it and it is a fake according to the website.
That does not mean we did not enjoy her, Eva Green that is, she is lovely, even my wife and daughter BOTH commented on that fact!!!!!
The PQ was disappointing as 3D but otherwise, and in 2D it was pretty good. SQ is 7.1 and pretty good too! Nothing reference here that I noticed.
RECOMMENDED kinda crazy family entertainment.
Especially because it stars Eva Green and that kid from "Ender's Game".
And some pretty great characters including Grandpa (I did not understand his Dad at all!!!)
God Bless,
Wayne
