If the point of art is to evoke an emotional response, then The Girl on the Train is certainly a work of art. This murder mystery kept me guessing until the end. The tortured soul portrayed by Emily Blunt was all too real to me and watching this film was a bit like rubbing salt in a wound. That said, it was an expert depiction of alcohol dependency accompanied by one or two psychiatric disorders. I'm guessing you will love or hate this one.

Form a technical stand point, the picture and sound were both quite good. I'd say 4.5/5 for each on this one. Everything was solid and supported the story.

If you enjoy a murder mystery, I'd recommend this one. If you've been impacted by substance abuse in your life, and have seen a loved one self destruct, it may be a bit painful to watch. While the ending wasn't exactly unpredictable, I wasn't entirely sure how it was going to go. This was a well depicted murder mystery as experienced by a tortured soul. I will probably watch this one a few more times. I have no doubt the book would be better, but I can recommend this one. YMMV, but for me, this was a well done and powerful film.

Cheers,

T Cobe

I read the book almost by chance. I was in port on a cruise and my Kindle was able to connect to whispernet at a low speed so I could buy a new book. This was "hot" at the time so I bought it. It was really good. Better than the movie but they did a good job with the translation to screen.

Thanks guys, she is on my list of movies to find. I hope she stays on the train long enough for me to find her and watch!!!!
I enjoy these reports, and yes, Bro T. they cost me money too!!!!
I have an order in with Amazon (several actually) from 13-16 Jan. Music, movies, coffee, walking shoes, flashlights, spices, etc. Still waiting for it to be delivered. Patience is a virtue but severely lacking in the middle seat of this home theater. You wouldn't want to be around me, getting REALLY grumpy!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

Today it was "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles 2, or Out of the Shadows".
I am not a fan of the fanchise, but if I remember correctly someone here is.
IF you are, don't miss this one.
Megan Fox is in this one as well. At one point (the high point of the movie????) she puts on a schoolgirl uniform.
The rest of the movie is downhill from there. Ha ha, no, seriously the PQ was great on this.
And so was the SQ as well. It is in 7.1 and there is a LOT of surround information going around, LOTS of well done sound, perhaps demo quality if this sort of movie would make a good demo for you. No one scene stood out though.
Sound wise. ha ha
OK, Miss Fox makes up for a bunch of other ugly animals, she just does not figure into the show enough for me. I enjoyed the part Tyler Perry played.
I will RECOMMEND it for light or family entertainment. YMMV.

Not on Blu-Ray but my wife and I just sat down to lunch after seeing La La Land. It was perfect. One of the best movies I've seen in years. I can't wait to see it again.

Every scene is an homage yet it manages to feel original. The singing and dancing weren't even perfect but they weren't supposed to be. Gosling and Stone were just perfectly cast too. The music and cinematography were just awesome, managing to be artistic but still completely accessible.

I just walked out in such a great mood.

Thanks Imahawki,
I have La la on my list to buy, but you said every scene is a homage. I suspect I will not know what it is a homage to. Will that make the film much less enjoyable? Sounds like it might. It's like a musical, right? Singing dancing and the like?
Oh well, I will give it a try if I find it.
I probably won't like it, but it is getting great reviews.
God Bless,
Wayne
