Hello everyone.

I'm using my pair of Triton 7 and one Forcefield sub for 2.1 music listening by connecting them via high-level input of the sub and powering them with an Emotiva XPA-2 Gen2 power amplifier. What would be the ideal or typical settings on the dials for the sub's low-pass crossover and signal level? I feed this system with a DAP connected to the amp's balanced XLR input.

Will appreciate any input.

Thank you.
Ed

Hi Ed, When connecting the Triton 7s to the high level outputs on the ForceField 4 subwoofer, the subwoofer will gradually filter bass away from the Triton 7s at 150hz. (This is a very gradual roll off of 6 db per octave, though.) With this in mind, I would recommend setting the subwoofer's low pass crossover somewhere between 80hz and 95hz. I would also start with the subwoofer's level control around 12 o'clock or mid way.

If you are connecting the Triton 7s directly to your main amplifier, they will continue to play full range bass frequencies. In this case, I would recommend setting the subwoofer's low pass crossover on the lower side of its adjustment range - 50hz - 80hz. (I would still start with the subwoofer's level control around 12 o'clock.) I would, however, let your ears be the final judge. Happy Listening!

Thank you very much for the guidance. After the adjustments you suggested, I'm happy with how my setup sounds now.

Thank you once again. Cheers!
