This afternoon I watched Kung-fu Panda. This is one of few movies that will allow Reference Volume and still sound exceptional. With the new wall mounts installed on the Aon 3's, and the the SCXXL picking up center channel duties, this movie is all you could ask for in pure "Balls to the Wall" sound. I've watched this many, many times, but this time it seemed extra special. You just won't find many movies that work out the entire surround system quite the way this one does. This is my go to movie for surround demos.

Reference Sound -- Reference Picture.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Another Great afternoon, watching The Incredibles. Bob Parr and his wife Helen used to be among the world's greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil on a daily basis. Fifteen years later, they have been forced to adopt civilian identities and retreat to the suburbs where they live "normal" lives with their three kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction.

I picked this up almost 10 years ago. For a dvd, it has a great picture and the Dolby Digital EX sound is quite good. This is a great Pixar film that the whole family can enjoy. I hear The Incredibles 2 may be coming out in a year or two...can't wait.

OK, these guys chirping about Mission Impossible are not exaggerating. Great soundtrack. The SFX were very well done but the score was outstanding. The dynamic range of the of the soundtrack was HUGE. And it was so enveloping. The last time I heard real full range effects coming from seemingly everywhere was the new Mad Max movie!

Thanks Imahawki,
Glad you agree, but not sure what I think about being characterized as "chirping"!! Ha ha
What was remarkable to me about the soundtrack on MI 5 is that most soundtracks that really deliver a "demo" quality a LOT is foley noise, sounds of explosions, etc. But this soundtrack so much of it is MUSIC, there are REAL musical instruments making these sounds. I was IMPRESSED!!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

It wasn't meant as a dig. My failed attempt to use slang I guess.

Mad Max and Rogue Nation certainly stand out. I feel Mission Impossible is a better all around demo but if I were specifically looking to demo subwoofers, Mad Max would probably be preferable. The amount of powerful LFE in that movie is off the charts! I'd love to demo the SuperSubXXL and X with Mad Max in a good Atmos setup with GET all around!

Cheers,

T Cobe
