I finally got around to watching San Andreas. I expected this movie to have more bass... hahahah just kidding. Holy crap! I'm starting to realize something else too. Go back and look at my past posts in this thread. For multiple movies I keep saying how the soundtrack was so immersive or dynamic over and over as a theme. I think its the speakers. Almost everything is more immersive than my previous Klipsch setup. I don't know if its the level of timbrel match between the GEt speakers or possibly the switch from dipole to direct-radiating surrounds or a combination of both but dang, it just sounds good, always.

I completely agree with imahawki and Wayne. The most immersive sound field is right here at home. When I go to movie theaters now I'm disappointed that often the sounds from the surround speakers are easily located right at the speakers. Not so at home. The sounds seem to come from where you would expect the sound source to be, not necessarily anywhere near where the speakers are located. The speakers disappear, and I am truly surrounded by the sound field. I prefer the experience at home. Better sound immersion, and yes better bass.... not just dull BOOMS, but sharp CRACKS, ZAPS, whatever.
And yes, there was just a TAD bit of bass in San Andreas...

Well said Rick,
I can count the number of times I have been to a movie theater since I got my home theater set up on one hand, and have a few fingers left.
The sound is WAY BETTER, the Picture is smaller but better; especially 3D, at home it is awesome, at the theater it sucks.
It is MUCH more involving, convenient (you can rewind and see something again if needed), you can stop it and go to the toilet any time, eat and drink what you want at real world prices, and if you and the wife get the urge, you can do other stuff.
You can watch what you want, when you want, the only downside is having to wait for the most recent stuff to come out on blu-ray.
Good times, God Bless,
Wayne

Sicario
This is a dark movie, along the lines of No Country for Old Men and The Counselor. Emily Blunt plays and FBI agent that practices control in all things and sees the world in black and white. After an interagency operation against the cartel in Arizona, she is recruited into another multi-agency task force who's strings are pulled by the CIA. What ensues is a masterful tale of covert operations against the cartel.
This movie does a great job telling a story, building tension, developing characters, evoking thought, and pushing the limits. It's a grizzly tale but certainly worth watching. While I would not classify the ending as happy, the bad guy gets it: depending on your perspective.
Picture and sound quality are both top notch. 4.5/5 for both. The picture was detailed and the color temp leaned on the cool side but the skin tones were excellent. The black levels and shadow detail were both good. The soundtrack was very dynamic. Everything audio contributed to the story quite well (sound effects and music). The object based sound of the Atmos mix was immersive in 7-channel.
I definitely recommend this one but not for the whole family or tender hearted.
Cheers,
T Cobe

T. Cobe, great write up. You really made me want to see this movie. I like DARK.
"The Counselor" was pretty rough, but it was dark and I had to confess to the priest that I enjoyed it!!! Ha ha.
If you (or anyone else) can explain "No Country for old men" to me, PLEASE do!!!! I figure it must be some sort of allegory or something, but although I love it, I did not understand it. The writing and acting in No Country is awesome.
I love movies, I REALLY enjoy a good movie and a GREAT MOVIE, WOW!!!!!
On our great systems, of course.
God Bless,Wayne
