Boys and girls,
OK tonight we watched "The Theory of Everything".
It was a pleasant surprise, better than I feared it might be, informative and Hawking's wife turned out to nearly be a saint. Then in the credits it comes out that the screenplay was based on a book by Mrs. Hawking.
No surprise then. She was played by Felicity Jones, great name and she is a good actress.
So is the lead, Eddie Redmayne. There was an academy award or two somewhere in there.
PQ was great, SQ was by way of DTS-HD MA 5.1. Very adequate but nothing special.
I am glad his story is not over, it still might end well.
Somewhat recommended as interesting, a remarkable story and great acting.
God Bless, Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Well, it's not a Blu-Ray and the SQ is terrible but for the first time I'm watching the Tour De France on a 120" screen in high definition. The scenery is AMAZING! Hard to beat a picture like this. I can't wait for 4K to trickle down to reasonable prices and widespread content. In the meantime I'll enjoy the panoramas from Belgium and France!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Indeed, Wayne. At home and in my pajamas. Probably need to get moving though. I have a long to do list today. I've been making some adjustments to my theater this morning. Added some sound absorption behind both Tritons trying to tame the bloated vocals. I think I need some proper bass traps like Gus has in his listening room but the foam padding and felt have certainly helped. I hope you have something good on tap today. Happy listening/watching!

Cheers,

T Cobe

The wife and I watched "Gone Girl" together when the girl was gone to school today.

Well guys, I wanted to watch something else tonight, but had to settle for "The Quiet Ones" instead.
It is a scary show. Or meant to be.
I did not find it scary at all, but one thing worth mentioning, the SOUND was used rather well to try and heighten the scariness
and shock value.
PQ was that hand held herky-jerky and filming in the dark deal I first saw "The Blair Witch Project".
OK, for all that.
SQ by way of DTS-HD MA 5.1 was fine. Nothing remarkable, but the off side, surround sounds are used full strength to startle and shock the audience. My wife, who was trying to second screen and ignore the movie, got ticked off with how loud some of those startling sounds were.
OH, did I mention that this movie has Erin Richards in here?
Even she did not make it worth the price of admission unless it is free.
It is OK, but not recommended.
God Bless,
Wayne
