Hey T Cobe,
Sounds like you were 50% lucky. Our family REALLY enjoys a GOOD 3D movie!!!!!
But there are so many fakes out there, post production 3D versions made to look 3D after the movie was shot. Jurassic Park 3D is one of them. Sounds like they did a good job though. Some, like Gravity were done pretty well, but most really let you down on PQ.
I have started looking at this site before I buy, and when they are just fake 3D I skip paying the extra money, just buy it in 2D and be happy with that:
realorfake3d.com/#start

Hope this helps,
God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks for the reference. I didn't notice anything off on the 3D. PQ was stellar, the 3D effects unremarkable. Must have been okay if it didn't stand out. I'll make sure to check the site to see which ones I have that are real versus post production manipulation. Maybe I'll be more observant now that you pointed that out. Not sure that's a good thing... :). In either case, the Jurassic Park came with a 2D Blu-Ray as well.

Cheers,

T Cobe

T Cobe,
That is the way I most often came away from a 3D movie when it was fake. Just unimpressed. The wife, girlie and I would ask each other why we bothered putting on the glasses? Nothing flew out of the screen, there was not much depth in the pic and well, why was that in 3D? Then I found I could look em up, and sure enough, MOST of those unimpressive 3Ds were fake.
Over here we pay a good bit more for 3D movies, so I check them out now before I buy. IF there are fake, I just get the 2D.
It is a good site to bookmark.
Glad to know I am not the only one who likes a good 3D movie!!! Happy watching and listening.
God Bless,
Wayne

OK Boys and Girls,
I am back watching movies again, got my center channel amp back and working, thankfully!!!!!
Last night I watched TAK3N. This is the third installment of a good movie and sequel which should have only gone to TWO. This one fell WAY short of the bar, IMHO. It was just entertaining enough not to turn it off and watch the screensaver.
PQ was great, SQ was in DTS-HD MA 5.1 and not notable at all. Guess it was OK.
Not recommended unless you are going batty and REALLY have nothing more constructive to do. Or if you like action for the sake of action.
God Bless,
Wayne

Still trying things out and sorting out all the quirks and do NOT have the XMC-1 setup right yet, at all.
But she plays, and I put on Endless River by what is left of Pink Floyd. Comes in a nice case, some swell looking postcards, a CD and a Blu_ray with no video on it, but brilliantly recorded, wonderful sounding DTS-HD MA 5.1 96kHz / 24 bit MUSH!!!!!!
I am sorry but this just does not cut it. Not by a long shot and I am a REAL Pink Floyd fan!!!!!
But of the later stuff, not much of the early, atmospheric, psychedelic stuff. This is sorta a throw back to that period.
It is revealing that I still have got to get the room correction working as I have room nodes that this puppy is exciting. To my detriment.
The Floyd used to know how to put on a good show, give you yer monies' worth.
This is NOT IT, IMHO. This pig does not fly.
Nice recording values, music to go to sleep by, sorta, OK not really.
And this negative report has nothing to do with the fact that Brother Anthem does not like David Gilmour.
God Bless,
Wayne

"Endless River" is not that long, not that much music either, but then I was happy to see there are several video/audio tracks as extras. They make it not so bad,
Missing Richard Wright!!!! May he rest in peace!!!!
