"The NIce Guys" a buddy detective movie, with Crowe and Gosling had LOTS of potential.
Throw in some beautiful girls, a cute young girl and it really had most of the stuff.
PQ was fine and SQ was a very decent 5.1 really doing the job very nicely. Nothing demo, but good.
But the writing and especially the acting did not hold up the promise after the first nude girl.
IMHO, just not that interesting.
Barely recommended as light entertainment. Sometimes it looked like they MIGHT have been going for funny?????
Did not manage.
YMMV.
God Bless,
Wayne

Watched an old one tonight, from 1999, a Milos Forman (genius) film about Andy Kaufman, "Man on the Moon'.
Brilliant movie, wonderful and I am not a big Jim Carrey fan, but he was amazing in this movie. Tons of famous actors in this one, beautifully written, extremely well done.
PQ was not that great, SQ of the music (REM) was wonderful, but only a 5.1 track and surround was not noticeably used.
Still highly recommended if you haven't seen it. I knew next to nothing about Kaufman, never watched Taxi in my life, so missed him there, saw him on SNL reruns once or twice, did not care for the women wrestling thing. But now I get it. Enjoyed it.
God Bless,
Wayne

Finally got the 2016 movie "Free State of Jones" and watched it tonight.
Lucinda Williams wrote this song for it and it sounds marvelous at the end of the movie, very moving:

PQ was fine, quite good really. SQ was by way of 5.1 and the music, war sound effects and such were very good.
Nothing demo quality here but good.
The writing and acting were first rate, all about a TOUGH and TERRIBLE time in American history.
ROUGH stuff here, very sad.
Highly recommended. A LOT of history was covered here in a very human way, touching story.
As always YMMV,
God Bless,
Wayne

Between football games I watched "WolfCop" truly HORRIBLE, nuff said about that!!!!
And
"Snowden" an Oliver Stone movie, yes a couple of years old, I am catching up on movies I missed along the way.
PQ was quite decent, SQ was too, in 5.1 surround sound, there was not much noticeable use of surround. But it was well recorded.
I don't like the actor with the long name that played Snowden, I really like Shailene Woodley and Timothy Oliphant.
It is a good movie, I guess controversial, I am shocked that people don't really care whether their personal information is being watched, gathered, monitored, etc. But they don't.
Recommended, it is more interesting and well done than I would have thought.
Did I mention Shailene Woodley?????
God Bless,
Wayne

This is one from last year, just getting around to watching it, "The Big Sick". A true story I guess, the actor's real life?
Never heard of him but he does a decent job, some others do as well, and I really like Ray Romano and Holly Hunter, the actress love interest is pretty good too.
PQ was fine, nothing special, SQ was 5.1 and nothing special either, not noticeable use of surround.
The movie started out like I wouldn't like it, then got uncomfortable, then came around to really have a heart and was a good story, surprised me at how good it ended up being.
BUT it takes time to get there for SURE.
Recommended, pretty good love and cultural story.
So, not for everybody.
God Bless,
Wayne
