It’s been a while and I’m sure I’m a bit rusty, but here we go. I picked up Predator (2018) a couple of weeks ago. I really didn’t know quite what to expect, so I put off watching it for a bit. Finally got around to it last night and was pleasantly surprised.

The film itself was fun and had a great cast. The character development wasn’t the best and this film isn’t likely to win any awards, but it was entertaining. A good light hearted action film. 3.5/5 for the film.

Technically speaking, this film was very good! The picture was sharp with good contrast, black levels, colors, and resolution. The sound was very well done and provided plenty of punch. Not quite a reference level film but it’s certainly something I would hesitate to use to show off a good home theater! 4/5 for picture and sound.

The trailer does a good job highlighting the story. This is not a reboot or remake of the original. Other than a few plot gaps and weak character development, this was a good movie. Plenty of fun for any franchise fans out there. This one may be a little more on the light hearted and funny side.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Wonder Woman and Solo were my last two. Now that I finally have an Atmos set up, I'm trying to watch only Atmos content. Thankfully I already own at least 15 movies which will keep me occupied for a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Nevets77!

I just ordered Solo.

For anyone who likes things on the musical plus story side, both Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born (the new Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga version) are great stories plus very well recorded music. The GEt's just eat those soundtracks up and deliver fantastic music. Good stuff. Recommended.

Watched the new Blu-ray of Green Book.

It's in Dolby Atmos plus DTS surround formats. But as good as the sound is, it's about the story. It deserves all the awards it got. No plot spoilers, but this a keeper!

Highly recommended!!!!

Man, this thread has gone too silent!

I finally got a used copy (no longer available new) of k. d.Lang's Blu-ray "Live in London" with the BBC concert orchestra. Amazon has them now and then at varying prices, got this at $18.

Wow! I was a bit skeptical of playing a used copy of unknown origin, but this is the real deal! Sound quality (DTS HD Master Audio 5.1) is stunning! Whichever sound engineers and mixers BBC used to record this, they are pro's. And the mix of k. d.'s gorgeous voice plus a full string section with violins, viola, cello, bass and double bass plus acoustic and electric guitar, piano, drums, etc. is so well recorded. It is a "you are there" experience. The GEt's just nail this. Often when I listen to CD's of k. d., I kind of pick a song or two, not with this amazing A/V recording. I watched and listened, mesmermized, to every single part, twice.

Highly recommended! If you can find a copy at a reasonable price at Amazon or elsewhere and like k. d.'s music, try this one!

Happy Listening!
