I watched the newly out "Mama Mia Here We Go Again" Blu-ray yesterday.

Sound format is Dolby Atmos. Some pretty intense storm scenes were well captured, realistic, seat shaking stuff. Picture quality is top notch and better than the the original "Mama Mia" Blu-ray from some years ago.

Story line kept things moving nicely.

But it's a lot about the music. IF you're an ABBA fan, highly recommended! SQ not quite reference, but pretty darn good. SQ on the original MAMA MIA was DTS HD Master Audio and pretty good also

And once again, the GoldenEar HT blew away the sound we heard originally in the local theater. The couple next door, who also saw it first in a theater, came over to watch also. Same reaction: "much better sound, loved the music", and "we could feel the thunder and hear things we never heard at the theater".

Boys and squirrels, got some movies now, so here goes.
Watched DWayne Johnson and Neve Campbell in "Skyscraper" last night with the family.
They stayed awake, sorta liked it.
It was rated about 50/50 and I found that about right, disappointed me. I hoped for more.
PQ was fine, nothing great, some neat visual tricks.
SQ was 7.1 and a golden opportunity to show off, but sadly, for me it did not really.
It was OK, just not block buster good.
Acting and believability, forget about it.
But interesting some times.
Good mindless entertainment.
Recommended but barely.
YMMV.
God Bless,
Wayne

Sometimes I feels like a slacker.
I have all these great movies to watch, but I have been watching football. My fantasy football team is in first place!!!!!
Better shout that out now, because it will probably not be true after this weekend, ha ha.
But really, instead of watching movies, I have been watching a TV series, "The Last Ship".
It is only on DVD, for me, and the pic and sound is not too bad. Not great, nothing to write home about.
The story is OK, getting better as I start season two, the acting is not that great, BUT
the lovely Rhona Mitra is in it, she makes it worth watching all by herself. Well, almost anyway.
Remember her as the model for Laura Croft, Tomb Raider? Or as the neighbor in Hollow Man???????
Yeah, that actress.
So, I will watch this for a while and then get back to movies.
All the best, God Bless,
Wayne

Hi Wayne

The broadcast series finale of the last ship came out about a week ago. Five seasons I think. I thought it was a good, but not great, series but I am glad I watched it to the end.

Thanks Hagman,
I totally agree with good, not great on the Last Ship.
I hope to get to the last season, though I have yet to buy it, only 1-4.

Tonight our daughter is home so we watched "Pacific Rim, Uprising" which is the PR 2.
IF you like CGI, cartoon like CGI, then go for it.
The first one had some story, some decent characters, a bit of human interaction, etc, was not too bad. Kind of liked it so was looking forward to this one. This second one was absolute rubbish, IMHO.
Just one notch above a B movie.
PQ was just OK, SQ was bombastic, LOTS of LFE but I did not find much of the sound well localized nor helpful.
Not Recommended, IF you ask me, save your money.
But as always, YMMV.
God Bless,
Wayne

OK, part number 3 in the Maze Runner series, "Maze Runner, Death Cure" was on today.
This was in 7.1 in my non Atmos theater, probably atmos for those who have it.
But the sound was tremendous, really heavy bass explosions, some good surround, could be used for a demo but I would like to see a little more use of the directionality for a real good demo. Probably some was there and I did not notice, being caught up in the action of the movie.
The good thing about the Maze Runner franchise, people are important, characters are well developed, you care about the individuals involved. This one was no exception. The bad guy and woman are REALLY bad, and deserve everything they get, have it coming to them. Good kids deserving a break.
Enjoyed it, PQ was pretty good, nothing to rave about, but SQ was the star here.
Recommended.
YMMV, but IF you saw the previous two and enjoyed them then I doubt you will be much disappointed with this one.
God Bless,
Wayne
