For our holiday fare, we watched "The Shack" with Sam Worthington, pictured with the holy trinity in the pic below, yes really.
PQ was great, well done. SQ was 5.1 I think, honestly did not notice, and never noticed any surround in the show, though I might have missed some.
It is a slowish movie, trying to work out VERY tough issues of how there can be such evil in the world with a Loving God?
It does a pretty good job handling that, interesting job. But in dialogue, which was just a bit much, IMHO.
How could it not be? I don't know, a LOT of exposition was needed to make the case.
It was a good case.
RECOMMENDED. I do love the themes of forgiveness and redemption. And the play with ethnicity was great, SUMIRE, awesome!!!!
But not for you if you are looking for an action flick.
And not for demo worthy sound.
Tim McGraw is in it though. And he and Faith Hill sing.
Interesting choice to play "Papa", but well explained if you listen closely.
God Bless,
Wayne

Well Boys and Girls,
Last night it was "Cafe Society" from last year, I am behind. My take: MEH!!!!
Oh, sorry, this is a Woody Allen film, so it must be brilliant and meaningful and wonderfully acted/written.
PQ was georgous, it is a period movie and shows that well, very classy, New York and Los Angeles.
SQ was by way of DTS 5.1 and the music in the film, mostly Jazz sounded terrific, IF you like that sort of thing. But there was no noticeable use of surround sound for anything interesting.
Course the dialogue is the thing in a WA movie, all the dry humor, sardonic, self-deprecating, his take on Nihilism and fatalism.
But some is a bit funny, some sad and meaningless.
Not really recommended, but better than watching old re-runs of "I love Lucy", oh, sorry, NO it definitely is not better than LUCY!!!!
ha ha, what do I know?
I did not enjoy Carell much in this movie (whereas I usually do), never enjoy Jesse Eisenberg, but Kristen Stewart was OK.
YMMV.
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Sorry I am so often disappointed in movies, reporting on ones I did not really enjoy.
Tonight is different!!!! Tonight I watched "Dunkirk"! WOW!!!!!
The story, movie is rated 4 outta 5 stars by several sites, and I cannot argue with that, seems about right.
BUT THIS IS DEMO STUFF HERE!!!!!!
PQ is great, IF you have a 4K TV to go with your Oppo 205, you really should get this one in 4K. Even on my lowly plasma TV it looked really great.
SQ here on the one I got was only DTS 5.1 BUT TOTALLY ROCKED IT!!!!!!
DEMO QUALITY HERE so many places in the movie, I will let you choose. TEST YOUR BASS RESPONSE AND SUBWOOFER!!!!! This movie will do it. And planes flying overhead, front to the theater to the rear, Holy Moly!!!!! Sounded like I have ATMOS, but don't and surely do not need it.
Gun shots, shell casings, slugs hitting things right and left and behind you, had my wife ducking and finally she ran for cover!!!!
From the beginning of the movie, it was un-nervingly realistic sounding!!!!! This beats em all so far, better than Saving Private Ryan even.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, get this movie just for the sound alone. Yes, the story is interesting, shoot, it was written so well it has you on the edge of your seat time and time again!!!! Great movie making. It is a RIDE!!!!!
You need this movie in your library if you don't have it already.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, Wayne

Saw Dunkirk in a movie theater when it first came out. I agree, good all around. I'm getting the Blu-ray based on your description of SQ especially. It was good in the theater, bet the GEt's will do it even better!!!

Thanks!

Tonight before the New Year got here, watched "The Dark Tower". Well written, well acted for the most part.
Good lead actors, the boy has a way to go on his acting skills.
PQ was quite fine!
SQ was by way of DTS 5.1 on my copy and I thought it would be more than that, better than that.
There was some powerful sounds, music and effects, but for the most part, especially after watching DUNKIRK, it was a little disappointing.
Still the story was good, the ending made me happy.
A GOOD WATCH.
RECOMMENDED.
God Bless,
Happy New Year
