Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra / Opium (1996) -- Snake oil Surfer

Exceedingly Great sound this evening.

Rick: give this a stream...I'll bet it sounds glorious on your Sony's.
T Cobe: this recording would be right at home in your collection. The Red Dawns would most definitely bring lushness and openness to an already analytical recording.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Thanks, Anthem

My Dragonfly Red is supposed to arrive late tomorrow, when we're back in NH. I'll test it out on the Sony with Snake oil Surfer. I already have Liebert's Albatross in my favorites list. Good stuff.

Got mine Friday (DragonFly Red) and out of the box I can hear a difference, even from my old DragonFly 1.2) The cheap adaptor I got for my phone is shoddy at best though. I will have to hold out for the legit DragonTail. Interested in what I can get from my phone amplification wise. It drives my HiFiMan headphones quite well though. Louder than my old DragonFly, and equal to my new expensive ASUS sound card that has a headphone amp on board. If there is a "break in" time on this unit things can only get better.

I finally have the turntable hooked back up. It's been several weeks. I've been playing around with speaker wire this morning as well. Things are sounding great and this album exploits it well.

I used some 18-7 wire to fabricate some speaker wire this afternoon. One wire for the positive and another for the negative. The overall gauge is around 10 gauge. The end result was greater resolution and depth while sacrificing a little bass over a 10 gauge Belden speaker wire I was using. Out of curiosity, I added the Belden with the 18-7 wire and I'm liking the results. Of course this gives me somewhere in the ballpark of 7 gauge... Definitely overkill but if I'm getting the resolution, depth, and bass of both wires, why not?

Cheers,

T Cobe

Psychoacoustics: The branch of psychology concerned with the perception of sound and its physiological effects.

So, I threw in Birdland to check the bass. I couldn't understand why 10 gauge wire wouldn't have plenty of low end muscle. Well, there is plenty of bass. I'm leaving the Belden cable off and I still hear more depth and detail with the 18-7 wire.

Cheers,

T Cobe
