Smooth, Baby...Smooth.

Listening to the Blue Note RVG edition of Joe Henderson's Page One this morning accompanied by a cup of Tolima Colombia coffee. Blue Bossa sounds age appropriate. Being from 1963, it certainly has a vintage sound but it's pretty clean and free from distortion so far. Sounding nice and smooth but not a lot of character in the soundstage. Everything sounds fronts and center like a studio recording with everyone wired for sound. Very enjoyable, nonetheless. Thanks for referring this one, Anthem.

True to its description, the Tolima is sweet and juicy with a bit of fruit character. Mouthfeel is silky and smooth aided by the chocolate character. I'm not sure I have yet to taste any floral notes but there is a bit of citrus like bitterness though not enough to take away the overarching impression of one sweet and smooth cup of joe. I look forward to how the flavor changes as I make my way through Page One.

This is a great track and it can be very challenging for a system to resolve all that is going on with this one. In particular, I like to listen to see how well the saxophone can cut through this track. I've heard it buried on many auditions and configurations in my own setup. This is certainly not the case in my current configuration. Again, the T1s are the stars if the show, but everything else is working in harmony. While I wont quit until I get my speaker wires and power cables figured out, I would be content with my current setup for a long time!

Accompanying the DMB tonight is a Fresh Squeezed IPA from Deschutes Brewery. This is a great IPA with plenty of late addition hops and a good malt balance thanks to the combination of pale, crystal, and Munich malts and citra, nugget, and mosaic hops. It's a very clean ale and quite refreshing in the Summer heat. Citra hops seem to be a favorite of mine these days.

A balanced beer and a balanced stereo setup... Life is good!

Yes, a good Father's Day here at the NH lake. An afternoon with some boating and swimming, and soon a shore dinner of lobster, steamed clams, corn on the cob... Yes, life is good, as you said, T Cobe!

Going back to some recent purchases after a few upgrades. This CD sounds amazing. The soundstage is enormous. This song is the very definition of holographic imaging. With just the Triton Ones, it sounds like the music is in 5.1 surround.
