Thanks Bro Art for sharing, I realize that this is quite personal and we would have respected your not sharing. But glad you did.
I will know better now how to pray and I trust that others will pray too.
These things are scary stuff. And that is a VERY scary location. But we will believe, trust and hope it is gonna all be alright.
God Bless you and Sheryl!!!!!

Hi Gang:

While we wait for the next medical steps to unfold, I have continued to experiment with sound combinations in my "Music-Only" setup. These experiments have consisted of trying different speaker-connection combinations for my Triton Sevens and KLH Floor speakers - all using my Denon AVR 790 7.1 Receiver, which replaced the fallen Onkyo. I wanted to listen to these speakers in their support roles, using the different combinations of connections, settings, and sound-field listening options offered by the Denon unit.

I believe I have settled upon the following choices:

1. The Triton Sevens connected to the Denon Front speaker terminals, but remaining in the rear of the room.

2. The KLH speakers remaining on the sides of the room and connected to the Surround terminals on the Denon.

3. I have physically relocated both of my subs to the front of the room. They sit on either side of the TV and in-between the Triton Ones. The Klipsch sub is connected to the sub pre-out on my Sony STR DE 897 as part of my "Video Only" multi-channel sound system. The Paradigm sub is connected to the "Record Out" line outputs on my Cambridge 2-channel music system amp.

Having both subs in the front of the room improves the "imaging" of the bass sound, as compared to their previous locations on either side of the room.

Having just the KLH speakers providing Surround Sound effects, rather than having both the KLHs as Surrounds and the Sevens as Back Surrounds, provides enough surround sound effect. The Sevens in the rear of the room act to fill in the sound in the room. The Denon's volume level is adjusted to add the effects without drawing attention to these speakers when I am in my PLP.

This arrangement also presages what might happen should the day come when a pair of References might show up in Johnson City - perhaps in celebration of a future blessing.

Best to all,

Art

Hi Rick, et al:

Still waiting on scheduling for Sheryl's PT Scan and Oncology consultation. I am impatient by nature, so waiting annoys me considerably. But, wait we must.

Weather is too chilly and rainy/snowy for much golf. So, I'm spending time listening to a variety of music with my latest setup. Today, I have unplugged the connections between my Cambridge Pre-amp outputs and my T1s' LFE inputs. I have set the LFE gain controls on the Ones to 12 o'clock high.

With my big Paradigm now in front between the Ones, I will play with the Paradigm's level and frequency controls to see if I can provide just the right amount of low bass enhancement. Test sound sources will include jazz recordings with electric and acoustic bass and classical recordings with bass drums and strong double bass content.

As I type, I am listening to the Shostakovich 7th Symphony. I don't think I will be making any further changes to the setup for my Sevens and KLH speakers.

Happy listening to all,

Art

Still praying Bro Art, and man can I relate to not being able to wait patiently!!! Me too!!!!
So enjoy the music, at least until it is good weather for golf.
I was just listening the other day to Shostakovich Sym. #5. Wow his music is GREAT!!!!!
As far as your other thread about mono, sorry, I have no clue there.

God Bless,
Wayne
