Update:

I corrected my Blue-Ray Sound problem by replacing the older Sony 5.1 STR DE 885 AV Receiver with a later model Denon AV Receiver which could handle the digital audio portion of the blue-ray signal.

Apparently, the older pre-blue-ray Sony could not process the blue-ray digital signal correctly.
