One of my hopes was, that with the CXR120 replacing my older Denon, I would notice a benefit when listening to my mono or stereo music in surround-sound modes. It was only a hope, not an expectation. So far, an unfulfilled hope.
Overall, I am pleased with how well the two Cambridge units play together - similar to how well GE speakers play together. If I add the References, all of my audio-only system speakers will be GE. I can achieve an all GE status now by turning off the KLH 283A pair.
Next experiment will be to reverse polarity of the feeds to the KLH speakers - faux surround-sound effect added to rear of the room as a secondary sound.
Medical activities for Sheryl today and tomorrow - then some major decisions as to how she proceeds.
Best,

We are still in "discovery mode", investigating intervention options for Sheryl. We have a consultation March 14 at Duke University Medical with a Thoracic surgeon and will likely have a second consultation at another date with a second specialist at Duke.
It is clear to us that, if it can be successfully accomplished, the proper decision is for her to have surgery to have the growth removed. We are seeking opinions from surgeons who have performed surgeries in the area of the body, in which her growth is located.
We will probably not be able to make a decision until late March at the earliest.
Thanks for your continued expressions of concern.
Best,
Art

Currently, I have my new Cambridge CXR120 AV Receiver set up as a weird 6.1 system. My KLH speakers are connected to the Front terminals, but are actually located on the side walls of my room, behind my PLP. Their levels are set well down (-8.0 db). Their primary function is to provide a bit of full-sound support to the room ambiance without being at all noticeable.
My Triton Sevens are in the rear of the room and connected to the CXR120 as Surrounds. My SuperSat 3s are in a Front Height position on shelves above and behind my Triton One Fronts. The SuperSat 3s are connected to the CXR120 as Front Height speakers
My Paradigm DSP 3400 Sub is connected to the CXR120 LFE output. All speakers connected to the CXR120 are set to Small and the cutoff frequencies are set to 40 Hz for the Sevens and KLHs, while the SuperSat 3s are set to 80 Hz. The Paradigm is set to provide the very low bass being re-directed by the CXR120. The listening mode for the CXR120 is Dolby PLIIz Height.
The Triton Ones remain connected to the Cambridge 851 Stereo Amp.
I used a Sound Pressure meter to balance all speakers to my liking, with emphasis given to the Triton Ones for focused musical sound staging.
As usual, I am evaluating this arrangement by listening to a variety of orchestral, choral, vocal, and instrumental music, both classical and jazz.
While I am still considering the future possibility of acquiring a pair of Triton References, I am having a hard time considering what I would need to do with the Ones in that event. Moving the Ones to either the side or the rear of the room seems to me to be relegating a fine pair of speakers to an unworthy subordinate roll. I am not likely to get into the process of trying to sell the Ones, even locally. I might discuss a trade option with the GE dealer, but the dealer is 230 miles away.
My sound discovery journey continues........
Happy listening to all,

Hi, Art
I had a similar issue when I got the T Ref's for fronts. What to do with the T1 's? Trade them in and leave the T2's as surrounds????
Just couldn't part with the T1's and so moved them to surrounds. Wow. They are brothers with the TRef's: balanced crossovers, bass, musicality. And when they play together and reinforce each other, well... I haven't regretted that decision one bit. In another post you described the difference between your T7's and T1's and how the T1's just had more bass punch. Well, they happily deliver that punch and smoothness as surrounds also.
I know you don't envision using them together in an HT system (yet? ), but, man can that foursome make sound magic!
I know you'll sort it out and do what's right for you, whether that's trading in the 7's or 1's or whatever (somehow, ending up 100% GEt is an end in itself). But I do NOT feel my T1's have been relegated to some unworthy subordinate role. Wish you could hear those T1 and T Ref "brothers" singing together!!!
Keep on keepin' on!

This morning, I have implemented yet another re-configuration - one I have never tried before (doesn't seem possible given my history). I have connected my Triton Sevens to the "B" Speaker terminals on my Cambridge 851A Stereo Amp. They remain in the rear of the room, but are phased and connected to play Front L/R sounds in tandem with my Ones (connected to the 851A "A" Speaker terminals). The objective was to see how well the Sevens played with the Ones, with both sets of speakers playing front signals.
I was pleasantly surprised when I sat down in my PLP and heard the Ones predominate, while the Sevens acted to "fill the room". This finding bodes well for a possible future acquisition of the Reference speakers. I assume that the References would be just enough more efficient than the Ones to achieve a similar result if I added the References as Front "A" speakers and moved the Ones to the rear and connected them to the "B" terminals on my 851A. (The Sevens would move to the sides as surrounds, replacing the KLH 283As for an all GE speaker array).
Is it possible for you to test that theory for me with your setup? If not, I might be able to get the dealer in Raleigh to make a temporary setup to check out my concept.
With this setup, I have moved the Front High SuperSat 3s to the Front terminals on my Cambridge CXR120 and I have moved the KLH 283A Sides to the CXR120 Surround terminals. I have used pink noise and my SPL meter to re-balance the speakers at my PLP.
Just when I had essentially given up the idea of adding the References, this configuration may be the answer to my concerns about making good use of the Ones.
Any final decision regarding the References must await the outcome and resolution of Sheryl's medical problem.
Happy Listening,
Art
