"for the time being" should be in BIG BOLD letters!!!! Ha ha
Enjoying your moves Bro Art, and I think getting rid of non GET speakers is probably a great move.
Still praying and waiting to hear more,
God Bless,
Wayne

Ah, Wayne,

Haven't you noticed that I am beginning to run out of additional options to explore?

I may yet settle down. I seem to be getting closer to doing so. I am now down to just GE speakers plus my trusty Paradigm DSP 3400 Sub.

I've about finished exploring the options available with my Cambridge 851A and CXR120 amps.

It may get very quiet around here pretty soon.

Best,

Art

Well, Wayne, have a bit of a chuckle on me.

A couple of months ago, I rearranged the location of my two subs such that they now sit in the front of the room between my Triton Ones and my Altec-Lansing Bolero speakers. The Klipsch Sub is dedicated to my movie sound system while the Paradigm is dedicated to my music-only system.

With the Paradigm now in front, this morning I decided to disconnect the Cambridge 851A preamp outputs from the LFE inputs to my Triton Ones and connect those outputs to the L/R sub inputs on the Paradigm. In order to make this change, I first disconnected the Paradigm from the Cambridge CXR120 Sub 1 output and turned the sub Off in the CXR120 setup.

I made some adjustments to the Paradigm settings to set the crossover to about 50 Hz and the level to about the 11:00 position.

I left the LFE gain controls on the Triton Ones in the neutral 12:00 position.

Initial listening to several favorite "evaluation" pieces has been very favorable. I am likely to leave this connection arrangement in place.

With this arrangement, I am finally in alignment with GE's recommended setup for music for the Triton Ones - that is, no bass augmentation via the LFE inputs on the speakers. With the settings I have implemented, the Paradigm Sub provides the desired additional "low bass punch" without coloration and without adding "background rumble". And, because the Paradigm is now in the front of the room in alignment with the Triton Ones, there are no phase issues and no cancellation issues.

Mr. Moderator should now be applauding and nodding his head with that "I knew you would eventually come around" thought in mind.

We shall see...................

Happy listening,

Art

Hi, Art

Good for you! Yes, Moderator Dude will be happy, I think. But more important for you, you're happy!!!

For whatever reasons, I've loved letting the Triton powered tower's crossovers do their thing at full range (except when the prior NAD AVR seemed to roll off bass).

I'm playing with power cord options at the moment... ain't lookin' for the ultimate in SQ FUN????

Happy listening, and keep us posted on the SQ you're achieving, and, more importantly, how you and your wife are doing.

Rick,

After just a bit of listening (much more to follow), I have noticed that the Ones are more "musical" without augmenting the bass via the LFE inputs. With my Paradigm sub in front and handling the really heavy bass (classical bass drums, for example), the Ones are now free to sing.

The room rearrangement which allowed me to move the Paradigm to the front opened this door for me. Also, being able to drive the Paradigm with the Preamp Output from the Cambridge 851A Stereo Amp, provides a full range signal to the Paradigm's internal crossover which varies in level with the overall system volume control, thus providing bass support levels matching the overall listening level.

Also, now that I am using the Paradigm Sub in conjunction with the Cambridge 851A, I am no longer connecting any sub to the Cambridge CXR120 (which is driving my Sevens and SuperSat 3s behind my PLP). More sound improvement has resulted from this arrangement as well.

Happy Listening, indeed, in Johnson City.

I don't know what to say Bro Art!
But if you are liking it, I am happy for you. BUT I am not falling for the end of the shuffling line. Ha ha
Seriously, IF you added a great center channel and IF you tried out some Blu Ray concerts of great symphonic music, in straight up 5.1 Surround sound, I still believe you would love it.
But, as before, what do I know?
Still praying and waiting for great news.
God Bless,
Wayne
