Hi Wayne,

Well, at least I did not actually move anything around (other than cables). However, I do have another challenge to resolve - this time in my movie sound system.

Two nights ago, I loaded a Blue Ray disc into my player and, to my surprise, the digital signal to my Sony STR DE 885 Receiver resulted in an intermittent sound. I watched the signal come and go on the front display of the receiver. This problem is a Blue-Ray problem only -- non-blue-ray discs play fine.

My setup has the disc player connected to my TV via HDMI. From the TV, I send a digital audio signal via optical cable to my Sony STR DE 885 5.1 AV Receiver. This receiver pre-dates blue-ray technology, so I suspect that there is some component in the signal itself which is not being processed correctly by the receiver.

If anyone can shed light regarding what might be different between a standard definition digital audio signal and a blue-ray digital audio signal, that would be helpful.

New Update On Sheryl's Medical Condition:

Today, Sheryl got a call from Duke. Their pathology group had obtained tissue samples from the pathology group in Johnson City and, coupled with one of the blood tests done at Duke last Tuesday, they have determined that Sheryl has Myasthenia Gravis ("MG"). MG is a chronic auto-immune condition with a variety of symptomatic treatment options, but no known cure. Symptoms relate to muscle weakness in various locations. Symptom onset can be sudden or gradual.

A common co-condition is the presence of a thymoma (a tumor of the thymus gland). The Duke pathologists have confirmed that Sheryl's tumor is a thymoma. With these twin diagnoses, there is now no need for the surgical biopsy which was planned for Monday April 16. Sheryl's case has now been referred to two different Duke physicians - a medical oncologist and am MG specialist. She is awaiting a call from these two physicians to set up an appointment to discuss a plan to deal with her MG.

Because her thymoma is large and in an unusual orientation, it is likely that she will have chemo to shrink the thymoma before a surgical procedure to remove the thymoma. Removal of the thymoma may alleviate or eliminate further MG symptoms.

More after we talk to the Duke physicians.

Thanks to all for your prayers and concerns.
