Well, I get to join this little club too. I'm on amp number 4 in the same first generation Triton Two purchased in 2011. Now, the same amp is emitting a very high-end tone when on a load from the amplifier. The first replacement was 2015 and they were still charging for out-of-warranty repair. The next was 2018 and was replaced free of charge at my dealership. Then, 8 months later. Now, that one has gone out too.
I have written GE and we shall see what response I receive. I haven't dealt with the company after being sold to AudioQuest.
I'll update my post when I have some conclusion.

Arcody,

Welcome to the club! I've replaced both of the sub amps in my TRefs, but I will say that GE has been very supportive. They sent me the new amps (with a temporary charge), and I replaced both myself. After I sent the defective ones back, the charges were completely refunded. I was out only the shipping cost from me to GE.

I recently read that GE has been sold by Audioquest to another company who's name I forget, and that GE is going to be shut down through the month of January.

As in, shutting down for a brief period during re-structuring, or “SHUTTING DOWN”?!?

I love my GE products so much---this year I even upgraded my SuperCenter X for a SuperSat 50C AND finally added in a SuperSub X two weeks ago to my T2’s. But I feel like it’s just a matter of time before I’m on amp #4 (or is it 5?) in the T2’s. Even now w/ my recently re-arranged RCA LFE jacks due to the sub, one of my T2’s is now making an ultra-low hum that stops if I touch its bare T2 LFE jack.

I guess the point for me is that my current A/V system is about 8 years old give or take, has fantastic sound and has been completely dependable…..except for my T2’s. If GE goes out of business or winds up changing their replacement amp policy I am going to be PO’d.

I just read the article:
www.audioholics.com/news/goldenear-acquired-by-pml

Shutting down for the transition to PML. Good to know they are with this company which has a long history of very good equipment.

All said, the amp has been out for a while, I have one still functioning, and I have unplugged the bad one. I should be able to maintain some personal, emotional self-composure for a while longer.
I can say that, even without 1 amp, these are still exceptional speakers, I have been more than happy with them these past 13 years, and the guys at All-Star Audio here outside Houston have been absolutely STELLAR in their support.

Thanks for the replies, Gentlemen. Glad to see the community support.
Cheers
Russell

Thanks for the link! Agreed, it’s a good thing to see PML as the buyer. GE fits well into their lineup of companies and products. Losing Sandy Gross was tough enough but I have my fingers crossed that GE still has a lot of time in their future.

Wow! You guys were correct: I have already received an email from the highly Celebrated Chet, and I have replacement amps coming my way.
What a great finish to a wobbly year.
A raise of the glass and a tip of the New Year's hat to GoldenEar in 2025.
