Hi Wayne:

For brutally simple - meaning 1 integrated amplifier and speakers (and SONOS connect), minimal connections and I can operate entire system from my phone (thus the 'simple').

Really enjoy the minimal gear, no albums stacked up, CD cases laying around, etc...

Very happy to be able to enjoy it. In fact, have it on now and the Reference speakers still amazing me - can't play enough songs fast enough!

Charlie, simple is often the best!!!!
Just curious, I don't know anything about Sonos connect, are you able to get good resolution files there? Any Hi Res? It is at least CD quality and not MP3, right? Just asking because the better the source, the better the end product, garbage in garbage out as they say. I am sure it is not garbage, but wondering if you can play the best sources that way?
Enjoy, that should be a wonderful system you have there.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi Wayne -

I've never gotten real technical with the Sonos Connect - what I do know is without it, I have to control my system via laptop. With the Connect I can run everything with my phone - which was primary reason for Connect.

Regarding sound quality off Connect - w/ Google Music it's about CD quality - with Deezer it's noticeably better. Using the WIFI baked into my integrated amp and controlling via laptop - Deezer sounds really good - I'd put it on Tidal quality (tried Tidal, hated their library and user interface).

Wyred4Sound has a 'juiced' up Sono Connect available that apparently can up sample streaming sources - apparently with reclocking resulting in less jitter. Whatever that means.

About all I technically know is my system sounds wonderful and after paying for the Reference speakers need to wait a bit for any other tweaks.

Hope that helps.

PS _ My view on the Connect is it's effectively a Roku device for audio sources - a streaming aggregator if you will - very handy.

Using DAC inside Devialet Expert Pro 130 integrated amp. Suppose the one onboard SONOS Connect, final DAC in mix is on Devialet. No clue if one 'trumps' the other, or last DAC in signal path wins. Using COAX connection from SONOS Connect.
