Depends on the input, those with a mini plug aux input will play whatever your device will play (phones will all take lossless stuff now for playback, some music players too) so that's the high-fidelity option (although that uses the device's DAC, so I use the term high-fidelity loosely). Those with USB inputs will play specified file types (pretty sure my Nissan will only play mp3 and wma).

Thank you sir,
I will look, I know the Honda has a USB input, not sure if there is another, but see what you mean if it is like headphones, it should play whatever is input. I suspect my Honda is the same as your Nissan. MP3.
Will look more next time I am in there.
All the best, God Bless,
Wayne

Wayne,
I have a Toyota Camry. It has both a headphone input and a USB input. I do not use the headphone input as it does not sound as good as the USB input. The USB input can use either a portable drive or a apple device. When using a portable drive I do not like the interface. It will not recognize folders, only files, so there is no way to organize the songs by artist or album. Just a long list of songs. I do not think it will play anything but MP 3. This is why I use a Classic iPod. The interface works great and with ALAC it sounds good. I currently have approximately 1,700 ALAC songs on my iPod and it takes up 48 GB.
Moderator,
Is GE ever planning on making car speakers/drivers? I remember way back when Sandy was still with Polk, they made some impressive car speakers. I sold and installed many of them at the store I worked at. We were a Polk dealer for both car and home.

Probably not, that market has changed a lot since the Polk car speaker days. Maybe someday they'll be a GoldenEar audio system in your Tesla ... wouldn't THAT be cool?

Just for clarity, your Toyota USB input accepts Apple Lossless files (ALAC) for playback?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we're talking about Apple Lossless, which is called ALAC, for Apple Lossless Audio Codec?
