I am not really interested in their library or service, I have LOTS of CDs and a few HiRez files, just want a good way to play them on the go.

But I read further and the Oct. 2014 shipping date has now slipped to Dec.
And the included battery, when it goes, it is gone. Have to send the player back to them to replace.
And they won't sell music to Asia, at least not yet.
And they won't do DSD, at least not yet.
This is what I need, from Astell and Kern and it is only $2500.

I did not purchase a Pono yet. As with you, most of my music is on CD. I have ripped them all to my computer in WAV format. I then converted them to AFLAC. I use a Classic 130gb iPod.
As for chipping in for your Astell and Kern, just download Anthem's attachments again for my part
