Boy do I know how to pick em!
Durn.
Watched "Serena" and the good thing it was NOT about the tennis player of the same name!!!! Jennifer Lawrence seemed a good
enough reason to watch it. But she nor Bradley Cooper rescue this boring movie.
PQ is fine, SQ by way of DTS-HD MA 5.1 was not noteworthy.
NOT recommended unless you have nothing better to do. Chickens to feed, dishes to wash, anything!
God Bless,
Wayne

Boy do I know how to pick em!
Delightful.
Watched Hairspray, starring Nikki Blonsky, John Travolta (John is hilarious), Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, and Michelle Pfeiffer. It's a feel good movie where you can't wait for the next song...absolutely loved it.

its 1962 and change is in the air in Baltimore. Tracy turnbald, a girl with big hair and big dreams, has only one passion in life, to dance on the Corny Collins show. When her chance arrives, she grooves her way into instant stardom, and the eyes of team dream Link Larkin. But with the programs scheming stage manager against her, trendsetting Tracy will need the help of her best friend Penny, her big hearted mother and sassy cohost motormouth Maybelle to show the world that all it takes to make a dream come true is a toe tapping beat and a little HAIRSPRAY!!

PQ was quite good. SQ is by way of 5.1 Dolby EX...exquisite.

Had a wonderful time...a most Highly Recommended film.

Wayne: if you haven't seen it, check it out...a glorious romp.

Thanks Bro Anthem,
Have you seen "The Wall"?
We can like and mutually respect each other, but don't get your music mixed up with mine.
ha ha,
Just messin' with ya Bro!!!!
No, I have not seen Hairspray, though I really respect John Travolta's acting and talents, and C. Walken is da Bomb!!!!!
Just, as the old saying goes, not my kind of music or movie.
God Bless,
Wayne

Alrighty then, tonight it was a pair of just OK movies.
"Project Almanac" was sorta interesting, the PQ and SQ were nothing to write home about.
Sophia Black d'Elia made this a much better looking movie than it could have been.
Mildly recommended if you don't really care about any of the complexities of time travel.
This was NOT the thinking mans' sci-fi.
Next was the farce, "The Wedding Ringers". It was better than the premise, and had some fun in it. Joe Namath did not help much, but Nicky Whelan did.
PQ was fine, SQ was fine, neither were exceptional in any way.
Again, a medium 50% recommendation (Nicky, you pulled this one outta the trashcan).
God Bless, Wayne

Well this time, not the most critically acclaimed movie, but one I can finally recommend, we watched "Blackhat".
It was a bit dark, and some of the special effects of what MIGHT have been signals going along the "circuits" inside equipment or might have been along inside a semi-conductor, some of those were kinda hokey.
But otherwise PQ did the job and SQ by way of DTS-HD MA 5.1 was fine as well. The show was involving, the soundfield seemed realistic, I was not listening critically so might have missed some reference stuff, but I doubt it was there.
The actors did a decent job with a pretty rough, bit confusing script/screenplay. I did enjoy how the "buddy" aspect of the movie leads crossed racial and cultural boundaries.
Not a great movie, but overall, especially in light of the crap I have been watching, and in light of the NFL season still not really kicked off yet, so desperate for something good to watch, a Recommended rating this time.
God Bless,
Wayne

OK, alrighty then, how to review this one?
Watched "Song One" with Anne Hathaway and Johnny Flynn.
PQ was fine, SQ by way of DTS-HD MA 5.1 was kinda reference. In this sense, this movie was NOT about surround sounds and stuff going on around you, helicopters flying, NOT.
This movie was about music and it is WONDERFUL!!!!
IF you like music and don't mind a fairly sad, kinda slow (OK, very slow) movie, no action to speak of, then this just might be your home theater demo disc.
The songs sound awesome!!!!! Mostly acoustic stuff, but not all, one club will have the room a hoppin'.
I wish for a better ending, but I can imagine one. There was some slow but lovely stuff here, family stuff and love stuff.
RECOMMENDED for the music!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne
