Back at it again this morning with Club Descarga, listening to the differences with the ERC-3 CD player. This is definitely better than the Oppo 103. The Oppo sounded great but the Emotiva is just better. Get ready, here comes the hyperboles. A veil has certainly been lifted and the T1s are more transparent than ever. Instruments sound more live and in person: especially on this recording. The amount of resolution is fantastic. The hand slaps in the percussion on this track are clearly audible and each sounds different. This is no electronic keyboard... The depth of each instrument is perceptible. The transients of the horns and percussion are quick and crisp.

Chesky Records really knows how to pick them. Between this track and I Love Paris, by Johnny Frigo, I have my two go-to demo tracks! I give this album, and the first Ultimate Demonstration Disc, 5 out of 5! If your going to tweak your system or demo any new gear, these albums are simply as good as it gets.

To this point, I have been trying to recreate the quality of the sound I heard when first auditioning the T1s. Until now, it has been a bit elusive. I am finally at the point where I can just sit back and enjoy. My T1s finally have the supporting cast they need.

P.S. The one downside is that the disc drive is a bit loud. I guess there are always compromises. Since my gear is in an adjoining room behind a closed door, it's a non-issue. I may be rethinking my layout and rack mount all my gear behind a glass door, other than my monoblocks, of course.

Are you saying the CD only version sounds better than the SACD DSD?????

No pardons necessary, Wayne. I can still use my Oppo for the SACD DSD transfer but the Chesky disc appears to be dual layer and plays on POS. Yes, to me the 2-channel stereo version is sounding better through my Emotiva gear than in DSD through my Integra AVR. It sounds good in SACD but this is better. Oops, and yes, I received the ERC-3 last night as an early Christmas gift from my lovely Wife! Life is good...
