Listening to Reference Recordings Saint Saens Symphony No. 3 "Organ", performed by Michael Stern and the Kansas City Symphony. Another beautiful recording by Reference Recordings! The organ on this album is not prominent but appears here and there for dramatic affect. Highly recommended if you're a fan of classical music.

BTW, I have the digital volume all the way up on my Oppo with no ill effects. Maybe the benefit on Adele's 25 was due to the poor mastering. Anyways, Santa may be bringing me a new CD player... :woohoo: More to follow.

Cheers,

T Cobe

P.S. This recording fights dirty. I just got sucker punched in the gut by a pipe organ!

Changing things up a bit. I'm playing a SACD in DSD through my Integra. This sounds amazing!!!

Song: Club Descarga
Album: Chesky Records The Ultimate Demonstration Disc Volume 2
Artist: The Body Acoustic

There no way your portable device will render this sound back true to the recording! The depth of the sound, separation between instruments, and transparency are stellar. It's like being at the club.

Cheers,

T Cobe

For what it's worth, I believe art is about conveying emotion. Artists channel their emotions and communicate them in their preferred medium and evoke a reaction in the observer. It's all about emotions. The most talented artists are capable of inspiring many feelings and the best albums, and movies for that matter, do the same. The more emotion, the better.

While Adele is a very talented artist and can convey sadness/sorrow, I believe she is capable of conveying more and she has done so in the past with songs such as Rolling In The Deep. 25 seems laser focused on grief. It certainly conveys her pain with the lyrics and music, but nothing more than in her vocals themselves. All joking aside, she was clearly in a dark place when she wrote this album. It's too bad to see someone so talented and this blessed struggle so deeply.

Respectfully,

T Cobe

Speaking of art, the last CD has hit the player. Listening to Bitches Brew by Miles Davis. I have to admit, I understand the controversy behind this album. This is certainly abstract and I'm not sure how it makes me feel... Maybe a little dizzy and confused. SQ is very good for a Columbia records release of a classic. Everything is crisp and clear, even if it sometimes comes across like a sound check prior to a show. Anways, here it is. Perhaps you can make more out of this than me.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Thursday evening, listening to Charlie Hunter from his Steady Groovin' cd (2005) -- Two for Bleu.

I really like this cd, it even has the crowd pleasers "Greasy Granny" and "Fistful of Haggis" on it.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!
