Yes, Charlie, you are right, and yes, I bought it from Rick!!!!
But I did say that I can hear more difference in speaker cables than in PCs. Depending on the cables of course.
I would love to hear you guys' Heimdall 2s, for that price they really ought to be, and seem to be special.
Happy listening and feel free to keep my straight.
God Bless,
Wayne

Charlie,

I will have to wait until I see what lengths of cable I might need. The runs might be of considerable length, especially to the rear speakers.

Best,

Art

Art, I would run good cables only to the front L/R stereo speakers. You can run lamp cord or similar to the surrounds and probably be just fine. But for serious stereo listening, good cables there really help.

Hi Charlie,

Currently, I have 12 ga lamp cord running to the Triton One Fronts. I can't say that I noticed any difference between the 12 ga and the original 18 ga.

After we settle our domicile situation, I will consult with you guys to get your recommendations about cables, based upon my specific configuration needs.

Thanks,

Art

Art, I understand you need to get settled in before you get serious.

I just want to say that it's not just a matter of wire gauge. It's about the details of cable construction: the internal cable geometry (how many strands, how they're laid) and the type and quality of the insulation, and even how much contact the wire has with insulation. Wayne talks about copper versus silver wire, but I haven't been able to compare on that basis.

To make a long story short, there's a whole world in cables, and different designers have different approaches to solving the problem. These design issues do make a difference.

Hi Charlie,

I can understand how construction and components can affect the sound quality. If we do relocate to Raleigh, I will approach Audio Advice to see what they carry and what provisions they might have for me to sample different cables.

Best,

Art
