Hi All. New and proud owner of Aon3 as front mains in a 5.1 set up. I am using my old Canton AV 500 for my center. It sounds good to me with the Aon3. Due to space limitations, I could replace the old center with a 3c but nothing bigger. Would I be improving my system? Would I still get a full sound out of that center compared to my old one? I do understand that most of the bass would be crossed over to the sub. Thanks for any advice anyone could provide.

Hi New Golden, and welcome here!!!!
I hope you enjoy your new Aons, I am SURE you will.
I am not familiar with either of the speakers in question, so will not hazard an opinion.
I will say that keeping the same HVFR tweeter with all speakers makes them match and is a plus.
It is marvelous sounding.
Glad you joined us,
Happy listening, God bless,
Wayne

Thank you Wayne. I was just concerned by the relatively small size of the 3c and getting a full sounding center channel speaker. I wish I could use a Super Center or even a 50c but I just can't. The Canton in question does list as it s specs going down to 40Hz while the 3c lists 80Hz. The Canton is approximately 20 years old. Do I understand you correctly that the tweeter match with my Aon3 would be more important?

Hey New Golden,
Only you can say what is more important to you.
I have never heard either your Canton or the 3C. Playing lower is a good thing normally.
IF it is clean. I have the SC-X for a center, and it is small! Are you sure it would not fit?
I cannot go bigger than it, wish I could, I know what you are going through.
But it (SC-X) is a wonderful match to even the big boys (Triton Ones). Having them match in the tweeter (which carries a LOT of the sound on these babies) is a good thing.
IF you can swing it.
And BTW, I really have a love for the Aons, they are a magic small speaker!!!!
Hope this helps, Enjoy,
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi New,

Wayne's advise is spot on, the matching center (whichever) will give you a FAR better front stage presentation. If you position the sub in reasonable proximity of the center speaker and set the crossover at 100Hz (minimum), you will not notice any difference between the Aons and the SuperSat 3C center speaker.

My sub is in the front and right of the center speaker about 5 feet away. So even the 3c will be an upgrade despite it's small size/
