Hi, I'm currently running a 5.2 system, with the Triton Ones as fronts and also serving as the subs, SuperCenter XL, and SuperSat 3s for the surrounds. The receiver is an Anthem MRX1120. The Ones are obviously connected with both speaker wire and sub cables and I've had issues with the LFE connections to the Triton Ones being loose. Wanted to see if GE support or anyone else has any recommendations for sub cables?

Hi Mnerenbaum,
and welcome here!!!!! Congratulations on a super system, similar to mine and I love it!!!
Are you talking about the power cord connections coming into your TOne speakers? Or the RCA LFE connections?
I have big, after market, water hose sized power cables and they are always falling out. I just have to push them back in and keep an eye on them, like one off somewhere every month.
RCA interconnect cables to the LFE connectors on the back of the TOnes can just be crimped a bit if they are falling off. Just give the outside part a bit of a pinch between your fingers, should be enough that they fit more snugly and never come off accidentally.
I hope this helps, but IF I have missed your point entirely, please help me to understand.
All the best, happy listening with a cool system,
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi, thanks for the response! It's the LFE connection. It doesn't really appear to be the outer prongs of the cable that need crimping. It's actually the center conductor on the RCA cable that seems to be the issue and I've tried 3 different manufacturer cables.....not high end cables though. If I'm next to the speaker just playing music, I can pull the LFE cable out and achieve much more bass by doing that. The cable literally sits there barely plugged in. If I push it all the way in, the bass decreases to almost nothing. The other Triton One is similar but the center conductor can be pushed all the way into this connector. I have to press down slightly on the end of the cable to force better contact between the center conductor of the RCA cable and the connector on the speaker...thus increase the bass to normal level. What's strange about this is that one of my previous speakers, the original Triton 2s, had the same issue. The second Triton 2 was perfectly find with the LFE cable pushed all the way in.

Wow, strange, it would be interesting to know if this happens with a good quality RCA cable??
I can't say I have ever seen this problem before.
Hope you find a good fix, and soon.
God Bless,
Wayne

Wow, that's WEIRD. Do both speakers do that? If so, are you sure the speakers are setup properly (Large/no crossover)?
If just the one speaker does this, sounds like a defect and perhaps causing a short of some sort when fully inserted. Contact your dealer with a description of the problem and the speaker's serial number, they will get you a replacement input panel for that speaker. ANY standard RCA cable should work just fine - we use basic subwoofer cables from Audioquest, Tributaries, Cardas, Transparent, and never had any problems with any model Triton.

With my receiver being an Anthem MRX1120, you only enable the speakers you have....there is no "large" or "small" setting on for the fronts. You guys recommended the following:
My question to GE support:
"Wanted to verify the Anthem ARC targets for use with my Tritons 1s, SCXL, and Supersat 3s. I have the Anthem MRX1120. I set the Triton 1s to full range/flat and the Xover to 80 Hz for the center, subs, and surrounds. I also set the max freq to 500 Hz. Just wanted to make sure that you guys agreed or if you had other suggestions. Thanks for your help! Mike
GE support response:
"Thanks for your interest in, and purchase of, the GoldenEar products. That's absolutely perfect, although you may want to raise the crossover frequency on the SuperSat 3 surrounds to 100Hz or 120Hz if you play the system loud. Also, the cutoff frequency for an LFE only sub (which is what you have with main speakers set to Large) should probably be 120Hz so no LFE information is attenuated."
So, for ARC, I have the following targets:
Fronts/Triton 1s - full range/flat
Center - 80 Hz
Surrounds - 120 Hz
Subwoofer - 120 Hz
max EQ frequency - 500 Hz
Subwoofer specific (calculated by ARC):
High pass - 23 (6th order)
min EQ frequency - 19
Now, I spoke to Anthem support as well and they said to follow the GE recommendations, but they did confirm that they send signal through the LFE output even when they're playing a stereo signal, like FM radio. Even though I thought that was strange, they confirmed that it's normal.
What do you think?
Mike
